At the end of the day, torturing was fun. Yes, in a cruel, sickening way, but fun nonetheless. I'll admit, I enjoyed their tormented screams, probably a little too much. I didn't get any answers from them: they were stronger than I'd expected them to be at this point. But still, it didn't matter. They'd break eventually, and until then, I got to have fun with them.
By the end of my time with them, they were covered in already-drying blood and crying silently, no doubt wishing for their charming Amethysts to come save them. I scoffed as I slammed the door shut, making sure to place my own power on the cell so that they couldn't use theirs. They were so pathetic. They should have known where not talking would get them.
I began to strut back down the hallway filled with wailing prisoners. I ignored them to the best of my ability until something grabbed my attention. A grimy, blood crusted hand shot out from the bars next to me and grabbed my wrist.
"Please, miss," the man sobbed, "You've got to help me." He came into the light and I took in his appearance: matted hair, hopeful eyes, ripped clothes, and a possibly broken nose all covered in a thick layer of dirt. His obviously underfed frame shook from his crying. I held my arm up and tried to break free. I could easily, of course, but I wasn't inclined to hurt him, at least not yet.
"Give me one good reason I should still be listening to you. As far as I can tell, you're here for a reason that's serious for Midnight to keep you here." I glared at him.
"I've got a wife, a family, kids! You have to get me out of here. I'd kill another man as long as my children didn't have to grow up without a father." He pleaded to me, the tears streaming down his face cleared away some of the dirt.
"Maybe that's why you're here," I sneered. I tore my wrist from his grasp in a fierce motion. He cried out once more, clearly desperate.
"No! Please! Don't leave! My family..." His cries broke off into cries again. I held my darkened eyes and the smirk on my face all the way down the corridor, surrounded by the screams of the lonely captives. I held my head up and looked around. This was my kingdom, and it was beautiful.

That night was perfect: no fights at dinner, not even the slightest argument escaped from Brayden's mouth. The only thing that disturbed me was Sophie, who sat there silently as she ate. I couldn't tell if she just hadn't warmed up to me yet or if this was simply her personality all the time. As I fell asleep, however, that perfect little world was destroyed little by little.
Lucas sat in the black van with Josiah driving and an unusually serious Alan. Their words were muffled, and I could barely hear anything they were saying. I urged myself closer as I always did until I was practically sitting in the seat directly next to Lucas.
"We'll never find them! It's pointless!" Alan shouted. "And why are you so worried, huh? You're probably in on the whole thing! I mean it was your girlfriend, how could you not know?" I could see Lucas trying to keep from throttling him.
"Whatever took away Portia and Robin wasn't Indigo," he said through gritted teeth. I almost laughed at his love for her, since I'd already convinced myself that she was never coming back.
"I'll bring them all three of them back and prove it. And that's a promise." Lucas's fists clenched in determination. Alan sighed.
"As much as we all want to believe that, Lucas, and believe me, I do, I honestly doubt that." Well at least this one was smart. The scene faded and the boys reappeared in a tech room, Alan's fingers flying across a keyboard.
I know you want them back, me too. Nothing really feels right without them here, does it? Josiah signed to Lucas, who nodded in reply.
"Well, yeah. I mean-" Lucas was cut off by Alan' s shout.
"Found 'em!" Alan jumped up excitedly, like a hyena on steroids, clearly proud of himself.
"Then what are we waiting for? Plug that thing into the GPS and let's get out of this place!" Lucas shouted. They all rushed out, but I stayed long enough to see the date on a computer screen. Today's date. October 20th. My thoughts were interrupted by the roar of the van's engine and the now-frantic beating of my heart. I zoomed out the door and flew into their van just as the doors shut.
"How long will it take us to get there?" Lucas asked as he clicked his seatbelt in and Josiah began driving. Alan thought for a moment."A day, give or take." As the words left his mouth, a surge of adrenaline woke me up.
"No. no, no, no, no!" I shouted to myself, sitting up and grabbing my face between my hands. Today was the twentieth. I had a day and a half at the most until they got here. I shook in fear. They'd found us; they were coming.

HEY GUYS!
I feel really bad I haven't updated in a while. Also, I know this chapter is a little shorter, but I'm typing on the one day this week that I don't have to study for any tests. Thanks for reading!

General FictionThey meant to kill me. I knew it. So naturally, I ran. I ran as fast as I could, not quite sure where I was going. I turned the corner into an alley. I looked behind me, only to see him standing right there, coldly smiling. "You can't run," He was l...
