"See Aristotle asked, "Why are we here? What is the meaning of life in the face of death?"
Vicki watched her teacher wander aimlessly around the class room, his words feeling awfully familiar to those that had been running around in her head over the past few weeks.
She had been asking that question ever since the night of the murder. What the point in living when there was so much pain to deal with?
She glanced at Audrey, knowing the dark places her mind had been recently. The girl seemed to sense that she was being watched, looking at Vicki. She noticed the dull far away on the girl's face, frowning slightly.
Whilst Mr Branson was checking some files, she winked at her friend before crossing her eyes and sticking out her tongue. Almost instantly, Vicki smiled, turning away to hide her snort of laughter in a cough.
Audrey hid her grin, her heart clenching with a light and happy kind of pride. Of course Jake had to open his mouth and comment, ruining the moment.
"Get a room" He rolled his eyes, pretending to gag.
"Hmm?" Mr Branson turned around, an eyebrow raised.
"I was just saying" He smirked "Bet Tyler's wondering the same thing right about now"
Vicki sent the boy a glare but didn't call him out, instead thinking of a way to embarrass him later on.
"Thank you Jake" The teacher turned back around, too busy to care what the boy had actually said.
Jake let out a very loud snide chuckle, fist bumping a boy across from him. This time it was Riley who rolled her eyes, deciding to let it go and not yell at him in front of the class.
Jake looked towards Vicki, basking in his triumph against getting caught. She simply pushed back a strand of her ginger hair with her middle finger prominently displayed before once again paying attention to the lecture.
"See, Aristotle also understood that volatile relationships, well, they can lead to tragedy"
"Looking for something, Mr B?" Brooke asked, leaning out of her chair with an innocent look on her face. Vicki focused on the pair, wondering exactly what had gone down between them and why Mr B had spent the full period searching his class room. She made a mental note to ask the girl later on.
"We're all looking for something, Brooke" The teacher answered, staring the girl down before continuing on with his task "See, desire, that's at the heart of drama. Desire for love, power, money"
A burrito.
Vicki rubbed at her grumbling stomach, hoping no one could hear its yells of protest about the lack of food it had received.
"I'm talking about Jason and Medea. Talkin' about Antony and Cleopatra" Mr B spun around to face the class "I'm talking about Emma and Kieran"
"Excuse me?" The blonde asked quickly, looking up from her desk in confusion. Vicki glanced at Will, grimacing at the anger on the teen's face.
