Chewing lightly on her lip, the girl twisted the combination into her locker, trying to ignore the sharp noises of the slamming doors and lockers and loud voices that sent shivers across her body. She pulled at the sleeves of her jumper as she tried to remove the goosebumps dancing on her arms. Placing a few books in her locker, humming under her breath to calm herself, Vicki was oblivious to the group of eyes watching her every move.

"She's definitely new" Emma nodded in conformation, leaning against Will naturally.

"Yeah" Jake agreed "Would've remembered an ass like that"

"Can you stop being such a pig for five seconds?" Riley screwed up her cute nose in disgust.

"What!" The teen exclaimed "it's a compliment"

"I wonder where she's from." Will changed the subject, rolling his eyes at Jake's crudeness.

"And why she came here?" Emma added.

"And where she got those shoes from?" Brooke was staring at the dusty blue heels in wonder and adoration.

"I'm gonna go introduce myself" Jake pulled at his shirt before sauntering towards the red head, pulling up to her right just as she closed her locker.

"What's cooking, good looking?" Jake smirked, quirking a thick eyebrow "the names Jake Fitzgerald"

Vicki turned on her heal in exasperation. She'd known boys like this back at her old high school. They were all devilish good looks and bad boy charm, willing to say anything to get some cheap thrills. She'd never fallen for it, but she'd been close to girls who had and had to deal with the aftermath of tears and hatred. She knew there were nice guys and kind guys and sweet guys, but guys like Jake Fitzgerald just had to ruin it for everyone.

"Am I supposed to be impressed or something?" She asked quietly, fluidly moving a piece of hair away from her face.

The boy sputtered for a few seconds, looking at her slightly in shock.

"No need to be a bitch, just trying to be nice" he frowned.

"Okay, cool" the girl shrugged, motioning with her hand "Now move on, I'm sure you have other girls to bother"

With that Jake let out a short scoff before walking away, passed his group of friends with slight embarrassment.

Brooke ran up to the girl with a light squeal.

"Sorry, but no one's turned down Jake like that in a while" The girl grinned "and I love a heartless bitch in heels"

Vicki smiled in the corner of her mouth, adjusting the bag on her shoulder.

"I'm Brooke" the blonde held out her small hand, which the ginger shook tentatively.

"Vicki" she replied, her eyes drifting towards the group of teens watching the pair.

"The short one's Riley, the cute one's Emma and the jock is Will" Brooke explained, pointing to each of her friends in turn. Emma gave them an awkward wave, Riley a bright smile and Will just nodded.
