Vicki kept her head low and her hand tightly around Audrey's arm. She thought back to the last time she had worn the girl's clothes, trying to smile. But the movement felt unnatural and forced, so much so that the girl gave up, continuing her slow shuffle down the corridor. The door was pushed open by Audrey and she let Vicki carefully, sending the girl an encouraging glance. The two spotted Brooke walking with Miss Lang, Vicki feeling her heart clench in pity.

She looked half dead, her pretty eyes blank and dark. It was as if someone had wiped away all the joy from her appearance, leaving behind a body but not a soul.

"Oh, my God, look at her" Hayley scoffed. Vicki had to hold Audrey back from going for her. Normally a similar burst of rage would have boiled inside her, but now she felt nothing. Miss Lang had called it shock, but Vicki didn't know what she should be shocked about. Seeing the bodies of people she knew was a regular occurrence.

"Hayley Meyers!" Officer Dwayne called, looking around for the teen.

"What? Me?" the girl frowned "I'm Hayley Meyers"

"The sheriff needs to talk to you" he spun round, motioning towards her with his clipboard.

"What did the sheriff ask you?" She turned to Audrey and Vicki.

"We haven't been interviewed yet" Audrey spoke for them, wrapping a protective arm around Vicki's waist.

"Seriously? Why me? Why would he-?"

She didn't finish her complaints, stalking off with the officer.

That's when Audrey noticed Kieran motioning for the pair from behind a book stand.

"Come on" Vicki sighed, the girls swiftly over jogging over.

"Hey" Audrey nodded, leaning against the wood whilst Vicki took a spot on the floor by Emma, pressing her face against her raised knees.

"How is Brooke?" the caramel blonde asked.

"Wrecked" Audrey whispered, Emma nodding in understanding "Her dad's on his way, but, in the meantime, they're putting her in solitary, out of gen-pop, for obvious reasons"

"Why aren't you with her?" Kieran frowned, looking towards Vicki.

"'Cause I'd raise hell if they even tried and they know that" she chuckled darkly.

"Okay, what is going on?" Audrey got straight to the point, sensing the distress.

"God..." Emma stood up, her breathing uneven as she passed a phone to Audrey. Vicki stayed on the ground, staring at her shoes, but continued to listen anyway.

"How did you...?" Audrey looked around in a panic.

"I don't know" Emma was close to crying "Someone planted it in my backpack. And now, I have to figure out how to explain all of that to the cops"
