Vicki sat in a stunned silenced until the end of class, where she was dragged away by Emma and Noah into a random, empty music class.

"What the hell could the cops want with Audrey?" The boy asked Emma eagerly, clearly worried about his best friend.

"Maybe they just wanted to ask her a some questions about Rachel" Emma suggested.

"Unlikely, it was far too dramatic" Vicki shook her head.

"That's a phone call. That's not a perp walk out of class" Noah sighed "Mr Branson"

"What?" Emma asked.

"We found out the webcam malware came from his homework sever and he's using a fake name" Noah explained.

"Wait. Mr Branson brings his soup to school in a Thermos"

"Villains have to eat, too. Kingpin eats. The Joker eats. Bane probably doesn't because of his mask, but it's probably some sort of, like, nutrient milkshake-"

"Hey, Noah, could we focus for one second?"

"Yes, sorry" he looked around, making sure no one was listening in "Well, Mr B may have seen us on his laptop. If he thought we could expose him, maybe he found a way to implicate Audrey as payback-"

Just as the words left his mouth, the man himself opened the door, sauntering in.

"Mr Branson!" Noah greeted "Hey! Hi! Um..."

"Hi" Emma cleared her throat, trying to hide her panic.

"We were just..." Noah stopped, licking his dry lips "talking scenes"

"Well, that's actually what I wanted to discuss" Mr B nodded as Emma fidgeted with her bag "And considering your propensity for speeches, I'm thinking monologue"

"Oh, I don't know. I'm kinda shy" the boy laughed.

"Mmm-hmm. Let me show you some options"

He placed his hand on the boy's shoulder, leading him away.

"Oh, uh...sure, okay"

"Bye" the girl's waved, Emma inhaling sharply.

"After you" Mr B motioned, opening the door.

"Thank you" Noah nodded

When both men were gone they let out a sigh of relief, Vicki watching the door nervously.

"If he is the killer, he's screwed" she muttered.

"Come on, let's go wait on him just to be sure" Emma moved towards the door.

"Good idea"

The two weaved their way in and out of gangs of teens, finally coming to a stop outside their Lit classroom. Whilst they waited Vicki got out her phone and started texting Audrey, trying to see if the girl was okay.
