Vicki stirred slightly in her sleep, the early morning light warming her pale cheeks through her window. She had forgotten to close the blinds last night before going to sleep. Then again, she had been rather...distracted.
Feeling the small cold feet readjust themselves on her warm calves sent shivers down her spine, but in the good type of way. Audrey lay across the girl, her face buried in the crook of Vicki's neck, half her body thrown over the girl's torso. Vicki had one hand resting on her back, tracing comforting patterns onto the skin with her thumb to help keep her asleep. The other was intertwined in the girls short hair, occasionally reaching down to stroke her cheek.
She let out a quiet sigh staring at the sunlight with a small smile. She would give anything to stay in that moment. She had never felt this at peace before, and she still couldn't quite believe that it was real. She kept waiting for the moment she would wake up.
"What you thinking so hard about?"
Vicki turned her head round, looking at Audrey's only semi-awake state and holding back laughter. Her mind was sent back to a few days prior when she was asked the same question, this time speaking her mind.
"You"
"Hmm" She pulled her closer, kissing her shoulder affectionately before closing her eyes and trying to get some more sleep.
After around an hour laying there Audrey climbed out the window to go get ready for school, just missing Noah's daily wake-up call. Vicki had a hard time trying to keep her joy inside all morning, unable to keep the smile off her face and even accepting Marie's offer for breakfast. The whole time she was eating Noah watched her out of curiosity, his calculating eyes narrowed.
He continued his stare off even in the car, Vicki not daring to take her eyes off the road for fear that she would be forced to tell him what happened. This meant that when she parked the car she was instantly out of it and across the parking lot, running towards a familiar brunette. She slowed down slightly, not only to let Noah catch up but also to not make it too obvious how happy seeing the girl made her.
"Hey" Vicki smiled, slightly breathless.
"Hey" Audrey replied, stuffing things into her bag from the boot of her car.
"Last night was really weird, huh?" Noah stuffed his hands into his pockets, clearly feeling awkward. Apparently he made out with not only Zoe but some other random girl at the same time. Vicki didn't think he had it in him, and she couldn't help but feel slightly proud of the scrawny boy.
"Yeah" Audrey agreed "Don't do drugs, kids"
"Right?" He laughed "Um...One question. Just as we were pulling up outside the house-"
"I think I can hear Brooke yelling for us?" Vicki interrupted, grabbing Audrey's wrist "Can you hear her?"
"Yeah" Audrey nodded her head quickly, turning around to call over her shoulder to Noah as she was pulled away "Zoe; She likes you. I can tell. Try not to blow it, okay?"
