“Emily, what the hell is going on here?!” I shouted, dashing over to her.

“That bitch totally cheated!” Emily snapped, struggling against the people holding her.

“Gee… Hold her still!” the medical personnel snapped at the three men holding her back.

Looking down I gasped at what I saw. Emily’s foot was completely covered in blood. Glancing back over at the other girl, I saw she too was trying to get away from the guys holding her as someone tended to her swollen left eye.

Did Emily… punch her in the face? Wow.

Don’t sound impressed or anything. She could get everyone disqualified.

They wouldn't disqualify everyone just for one person… would they?

You’d be surprised. Just hurry up and fix this mess.

Aye, Sir…

Inwardly rolling my eyes at myself for taking orders from a voice in my brain I stepped in front of Emily and shook her shoulders, getting her to look at me.

“Emily, I need you to calm down okay?” I soothed. “They need to look at your foot and find out how to fix it. You’re losing a hell of a lot of blood; I’m surprised you’re even still awake here,”

She froze for a second, staring me right in the eyes before it seemed to click in her brain that she was injured badly and all of a sudden she screamed in pain. As tears billowed from her eyes I quickly glared over at Hayden who seemed so shocked he was frozen and waved him over. He blinked and then dashed over instantly, grabbing hold of his girlfriend, shaking off the other guys and sitting her down in his lap on the floor as the medical person checked out her foot.

“Here, give her this, it’ll help for the pain,” the lady said, passing me a green whistle.

I remember having to use one of these during those few months of training. That was like I was on a legal high or something. But it really helped with the pain.

What the hell did you do?

Cracked a few ribs at one stage… and dislocated my wrist once too.

And you've healed from that already?

Yeah pretty much… wait how come you don’t know this happened to me?

I wasn't there at the time.

So you’re only around when I’m at school.

Pretty much.

Retarded voice…

Conscience actually.

I didn't even bother replying as I gently got Emily to open her mouth and breathe in through the whistle. After a while, her body seemed to relax slightly, and her tears slowly dried up as the pain ebbed away.

“So what’s wrong with her foot?” I asked worriedly.

“There are several pins all over the bottom of her foot… like she just randomly stepped on them or something. But they’re mostly around the top of her foot and in her toes,” the lady replied. “I’ll have to take them all out before we can clean the wound. It is serious bleeding, so I've already called for someone to get a stretcher,”

“Wait, so she’s going to hospital?!” I gasped. “Are you kidding me?”

“Would I joke about an injury like this?” the lady asked seriously without looking up from Emily’s foot.
