The next morning, Patrick and I only barely made it to the ceremony in time. Somehow both of us slept through our alarms. For me that was kind of normal, but it came as a shock to the both of us that Patrick did.

Either way we weren't the last to arrive. Eric and Jamie came through the entrance only a few seconds after us and we all sprinted to the middle of the field and sat down behind everyone just as the announcer stepped up onto the makeshift stage.

"Welcome back runners," he smiled; his voice filling the entire stadium. "I wish to first and foremost thank all of you for coming and participating in this annual Running Competition and making it an enjoyable day. Of course if also like to send my thanks towards our sponsors who helped make this happen once again,"

As he spoke camera flashes were going crazy and reporters were recording everything from the side. This competition sure was a well covered event.

"Now without further ado, I will announce the winners of the 100m races. In the Male devision, third place goes to Bennedict Rolands,"

There was a short round if applause as he stood up and walked to the front to receive his bronze medal and trophy before facing everyone and smiling broadly. I heard a few girls scream and he winked in their direction.

Looks like he's a player... The voice in my head murmured.

He does doesn't he? But he does have some good looks about him.

Even I can't deny that. But you still reckon Blake and Kalem look better am I right?

No! Yes... Maybe? SHUT UP!

The voice chuckled darkly before disappearing.

"In second place is Eric Andrews,"

Another round of applause came around as Eric practically jumped up from his seat and headed up to get his silver medal. After it was placed over his head and he had his trophy in his hands, he looked around and waved at a few people, including Patrick and myself. We waved back as the applause died down once again.

"And in first place, Patrick Bane,"

I gently punched him in the shoulder as he stood up; grinning like an idiot and clapping the loudest as he walked up to the stage. With a graceful smile, he had the good medal placed over his head and after firmly shaking the announcers hand he received his own trophy; turning towards everyone and smiling as camera flashes went crazy once again.

It took a while for the cameras to stop so the guys could leave the stage and return to their seats. Eric was ecstatic, showing off his medal as though he won second in the Olympics or something. I couldn't help but laugh as he showed it to Jamie who rolled her eyes and pointed out he didn't actually win first place.

Patrick on the other hand sat quietly, a relieved smile on his face as he held the medal in his hand; admiring it.

"Well done Patrick," I smiled. "you deserve that,"

"Thank you Jesse," he replied. "And thank you for getting me to join the running club. I almost forgot what this felt like,"

"You're welcome I guess?" I said.

He grinned in reply as the announcer started to talk again.

"Now to announce the winners of the female devision in the 100m. In third place is Louise McDrain,"

Just like before, she stood up and everyone clapped as she walked up and received her own bronze medal and trophy.

"In second place; Jamie Myles,"
