The Girls

Sleeping in had to be the best part about the weekend. You didn’t have classes, or responsibility to get up and do anything. It was the one thing that every student in this school looked forward too. That was, unless you were forced awake by the captain of the Running or High-Jump club. Honestly, who in their right mind would force a teenager up at 6am on a weekend to do 4 hours of training?

It’s entirely absurd.

So, that’s how I spent my weekend. Training like an Olympic athlete (okay, that’s an exaggeration, but hell, it sucked) and not being able to actually enjoy my weekend. And right now I was standing nervously in the foyer of my dorm; waiting for the new arrivals.

It was currently Monday morning, and I was thankfully given the day off classes to show around the new female students that would be arriving today. I couldn’t help but start to freak out a little as I waited for them.

What if they turn out like Amare? Little selfish princesses who think they can order me around?

If they are, don’t blame them. Blame how they were raised.

But it’s their fault for accepting to be that selfish.

Amare turned out alright in the end didn’t she?

She ended up falling in love with me, idiot.

Exactly, love is a wonderful thing, right?

You… You’re…. I hate you.

You can’t hate yourself.

I’m not hating my-… I GIVE UP WITH YOU!

Don’t give up on your conscience… I give you all the right advice.

I just didn’t even bother replying to that. I was very close to just accepting the fact that the voice in my head was lying when it said its sole job was to keep me sane. If it kept going on like this; what was left of my sanity was sure to evaporate into the atmosphere.

Suddenly, the door to the Dorm started to slowly open and a blond head poked itself inside and looked around awkwardly. Eventually, a pair of silver eyes landed on mine and a relieved smile spread itself across the blemish-free face.

“Come in,” I smiled, trying not to sound like a horrified tiger stuck in a cage.

“Sorry if I’m late,” the girl said, making her way towards me timidly.

She was already in the school uniform, and her medium-length blond hair was tied up in a loose braid that fell over her left shoulder. Her bangs were pushed slightly to the right side of her face and her silver eyes shimmered in the light.

I smiled kindly at her, causing her to seemingly calm down a little.

“It’s perfectly fine,” I replied. “You’re actually earlier than I expected. My name is Jesse Patchent, and I’m your Dorm leader,”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Jesse,” she smiled back. “My name is Faith Bloomwood, and now a first-year student at this academy,”

“We might end up in the same classes then,” I grinned. “Because we’re both first-years here,”

She smiled broadly, seeming far calmer than 5 minutes ago when she first arrived. Hell; even I was much calmer compared to before.

“How many other new students are arriving today?” Faith asked curiously.

“Originally there was only going to be three new students after myself,” I sighed, remembering what the Principle had told me yesterday. “But it turns out there are another two arriving as well. One of you arrived last Friday, and she’s currently attending classes but you’ll be able to meet her later,”
