"Why yes, that is indeed my name," Zacariah smiled pleasantly as he crossed his legs femininely once he sat down on the chair at my desk. "I'm so glad you still remember me, Jesse,"
"Why are you here," I asked, stumbling to grab onto the rail of my bunk to support myself as I tried to continue to stand. "What do you want?"
"Well, let's start with the fact that I'm quite disappointed," he sighed dramatically, "the last time we met, you said that you would 'punch my old face in'. I was quite looking forward to a good fight today,"
If I wasn't a cripple you would have had more than a punch to your smug face old man. I thought angrily to myself as my legs ached and cried at not being able to rest. Instead of saying this though I kept quiet and waited for him to continue.
"Of course I understand that you're quite exhausted at the moment," he said, gesturing to my body. "I was observing your physical education lesson just now and I must say I am very impressed with your physical capabilities. I don't think half of my men could have completed what you did, so colour me remarkably impressed my dear,"
"Thanks, I guess," I winced out as my arm began to hurt from holding me up.
"I would also like to commend your, although fruitless, efforts in trying to protect yourself the last few days," Zachariah smiled pleasantly. "Despite having many flaws in your plan it was still a good idea. Protection in numbers is always effective when done correctly,"
As my exhaustion and pain finally came to a limit I lost my patience and understanding of the fact that this guy ran the MAFIA and could easily eliminate my existence from this planet.
"What," I growled, interrupting him as he was about to say something else, "do you want, Zacariah?"
"Well, if you realy must know," He said, his eyes narrowing in annoyance, "I'm here to send an offer of invitation to you my dear,"
"What kind of invitation?" I sighed wearily.
"Well, to join my team of course," He grinned once again.
"I.. what?" I asked, unsure if I'd heard him right.
"I want you, my dear," he repeated, "to join the MAFIA,"
My brain went entirely blank. I forgot for a moment that I was in immense pain and entirely exhausted. Of all the things to come out of that man's mouth, he wanted me to join him? The man I insulted and threatened to punch in the face? The man who kidnapped me to lure out my mother and Kalem?
After realising I wasn't going to speak anytime soon, Zacariah continued.
"You see Jesse, everything that's happened these last few months have all been a test of sorts," he began, standing up and making his way towards me, "and you did very well. My first test was seeing how well you would adapt to having a MAFIA member being a part of the teaching staff and you really held your ground. Your very first lesson with him, I heard, you immediately went to question him without fear. I was very proud of this, because most people who see Heinrich again after leaving my sight are often filled with fear and begin pleading for their life.
Secondly, Jesse, is the reason I sent Heinrich to observe you in the first place. While he was there to protect you, as you know, he was also there to report back to me on your progress and to see if you could meet my expectations. And my, Jesse, did you reach those expectations. You observed Heinrich's social interactions and responsibilities and used those against him to escape not only his sight but half of the schools. You also went to a place that very few people knew about or expected you to be, and this made for a very wonderful letter from Heinrich telling me what a wonderful job you did,"
