Raegan's POV
I sat in my car and watch Chris help Carmen to the car. I was beyond being mad, but I had to understand why things were the way they were. It was my fault and somehow I had to realize that I fucked up.
"I got the stuff," Henry panted while getting into the car."I heard you fucked somebody up too," he chuckled. I clearly wasn't amused but he continued to laugh anyway. I pulled off from the store and drove home.
Chris's POV
Carmen and I got home shortly after Raegan beat the can of soup into her face. I took Carmen inside before going back to the car to get Marlie-Rae. Marlie-Rae was sleeping soundly as I laid her down in her crib.
Walking over to Carmen, I picked up her light body and placed her on the bathroom counter.Standing between her legs, I reached into the cabinet and sat the First Aid kit into her small lap. My eyes roamed her bloody skin quietly before I pressed the medicated cotton swab onto her face. She closed her eyes and hissed at the pain. With my free hand, I reached down and held her small hand in my own. Gently, I caressed her hand to soothe her. I cleaned the blood from her face. Occasionally she would wince at my touch to her bruises.
"Ouch, Chris..." she murmured.
"I'm sorry, Liliana just sit still and I'll be done in a second," I whispered to her.
Her eyes popped open and looked up at me.
"You called me, Liliana..."
I looked at her and shook my head and continued to clean her up until I was finished. I stepped back from her, allowing her to get down from the counter.
She turned towards the mirror and stared at her bruised face. I could see the tears swelling in her eyes. I watched as she touched her face, gently letting her fingers trace every inch that had been beaten previously that day.
"I'm hideous," she croaked quietly.
I scoffed in my shoes, "the only person that's hideous is the girl who did this to you. You didn't deserve it. You're beautiful, Carmen." I tucked her soft curls behind her ear as she turned around to look up at me. A small smile crept across her face.
"Thank you, Chris" Her small arms wrapped around my neck as we embraced in a tight hug.
I walked out of the bathroom as Marlie-Rae's cries swarmed the hallway. I walked into the bedroom picking her up from the crib. Her cries instantly stopped once I touched her. Sitting on the chair, I held her close to my chest. Her small hands touched my lips and I smiled down at her. I stood her up on my knees and she giggled as a small drop of slobber slide down her chin. After her hand touched my lips again, I knew what she wanted.
", when the sunlight's on your face, hope that fate can have it's way today. Sweetheart, It's like I'm drifting on a star. Know you're in a rush and my love's on the way," I sang out to her. A small giggle came from her before she stared at my lips for me to continue.
"And I love that you are everything I want. And if you need anything from me
You can just ask me! 'Cause your touch does something to me, baby. 'Cause you're my greatest gift, I seal it with a kiss. And I just wanna tell you that you are sweetheart, is what you are I said a sweetheart is what you are. You are wonderful. Sweetheart is what you are Sweetheart! Sweetheart!"I finished the song and she clapped her small hands together causing me to chuckle. I kissed her cheeks and looked up to see Carmen standing at the door. She smiled and put her hand on her hip.
"You wrote that?" she questioned tilting her head to the side.
I nodded and she nodded with a pleased face.
"Sing another?" she asked while I put Marlie-Rae back into the crib to sleep.
I walked out of her bedroom into the room I currently slept in. I sat down on the bed and Carmen followed me.
"What kind do you want to see?" I asked as she grabbed my book flipping through the pages. Her eyes stopped on the last page and she whispered "this one."
Right Here...the song I wrote last night...for her.
