Raegan's POV
I heard the door open and I turned around to see Chris's face. I quickly got off of Malcolm and pulled the blanket over me. Chris shook his head and his face turned red. He shut the door and I heard his footsteps leaving the hallway. I quickly stood and put my clothes on and ran after him.
"Chris, wait" I slurred.
He kept walking and ran down the stairs. I grabbed his hand once he reached the bottom and he stopped in his tracks.
"What," he snapped.
"Listen to me for a second?" I coughed.
"I don't talk to people who are under the influence. Let me go Raegan," he responded in a hushed tone.
I squinted my eyes at the light and sighed.
"Please, Chris. Just for a second. I can explain," I begged.
Chris turned around and looked at me. His eyes were bloodshot-red and his jaw clenched tightly.
"Wow, you look so sexy when you're mad," I giggled.
"You know what, get away from me. I don't want to talk to you," he snapped.
"Chris, I didn't do anything wrong," I slurred stumbling over nothing.
"You didn't do anything? What happened to you love me? What happened to all that sh*t you were saying less than six hours ago? 'We're talking so we have to respect each other' but you're up there f*cking some other n*gga," he barked in my face.
I smiled and said, "I just wanted some and you wouldn't give it to me." I poked his chest and he stepped away from me slowly.
"Okay. I'm going to leave. You can go back to having sex with the guy who beat you to a pulp, raped your best friend, killed your parents, and shot me and your younger brother," he whispered.
I grabbed his hand once more when he turned to leave. His back moved up and down as his breathing patterned began to get heavier.
"Good night, Raegan. Sleep on that," his voice cracked. He snatched his hand from mine and opened the door to slam it shut on his way out. Malcolm came down the stairs and rubbed my back slowly and kissed against my shoulder.
"Ready to finish?" he asked. I nodded slowly and went back upstairs to finish out my night.
Chris's POV
I slammed the door behind me and walked down the dark streets. Tears slowly left my eyes and I didn't wipe any of them. I sat down on the ground behind a building I used to call my home. I rustled through my pockets and found my phone. I sent Carmen a text message and she called me soon after that.
"Chris?" she answered.
"I'm here," I croaked.
"What's wrong? Are you okay?" she sounded concerned.
"Nah. I know where Malcolm is," I sighed.
She sighed deeply, "that was fast, Chris."
"Go figure," I said while my lip trembled.
"Where are you? I hear a lot of traffic. Are you outside?"
I rubbed the tears from my face and sniffed.
"Yeah, I'm outside. I don't really want to go home right now," I responded honestly.
"Want to come here? It's just me and Marlie," she offered. I sat and debated on whether or not I really needed to go back to that environment. After a few seconds, I had an answer.
