Let The Games Begin

━━━━━━━━━

Chase nodded to us as we stood just behind the curtains, the entire space of the stage seeming slightly overwhelming as the crowd grew more and more anxious as to when the five who had joined the games for the first time would be coming out for their first appearance since the sign up day. Chase smiled slightly as the anticipation amongst the five of us grew. The first ever getting to know the competitions event would be happening right now. Then the party afterwards. And then finally, tomorrow, the games. We had been training for so long now. The entire buildup of the games was coming down to this one night before the games. Then, it would be here. The bionic games would actually be taking place. The five of us, fighting to the almost death until only one stood, ready to get a new ability and being placed as number one on the list for missions after the academy.

"And now, without further a due, I am proud to announce the first of the five competing in the Bionic Games tomorrow. First off, Chase Davenport, who, is none other than, my son!" Mr. Davenport announced before Chase pushed through the curtain. I would be next since it was going in the order when we sighed up. There was a large TV set up around the corner so the four of us slowly made our way back. The room was a sleek black and white while a flat screen was set up above us. The couch was across the room so we each took a seat. Marcus sat down next to me and picked up the remote to turn the sound up.

"So, Chase. How old are you?" Davenport started as he held the cards with the random questions in his hands. This would be the one time when everyone would get to know us. Chase laughed quietly at the question.

"I'm seventeen now." Chase replied as he kept a straight stance in the blue chairs. The curtains were lit up with different colors from behind so the front of the stage looked pretty colorful. The entire ballroom was filled with larger chairs than the ones from orientation. The entire school had filed in moments ago.

"And what abilities do you have?"

"I have all the abilities. Speed, strength, smarts, you name it." Chase replied with a smile. I bit my lip to keep from laughing at his response. I knew how Marcus felt about Chase and I spending any kind of time together, let alone me laughing along to his interview for the games tomorrow.

"What about non bionic things? What are you're hobbies?"

"I... Well I really enjoy karate. I've been training in it since before I was bionic so the bionics have only really helped my cause. But academics are another passion of mine." Chase went on, a semi lost look in his eyes as he tried to piece together what he was really into. I knew what it had to have been like for him. No one even knew he existed before the FBI caught onto the fact that Davenport had him hidden in his basement for so long. He had been training his whole life for this. He hadn't had time for hobbies.

"What about the deeper stuff... Any friends? Classmates? Love interests?" Davenport asked, hinting at me obviously since there was a huge chance he still thought we were dating. Chase shook his head.

"The only girl I've ever really gotten to know is Bree, whose backstage right now, actually. The five of us have gotten pretty close over the past couple of weeks, so I would consider them my friends. It's going to be weird going into the games tomorrow." Chase rambled just before the timer went off. Davenport smiled as he pulled the curtain back slightly for Chase to walk through. The music played lightly as Davenport prepared the crowd for me. I could already feel the butterflies filling my stomach before Marcus attempted to pat me on the back, pretty much slapping me.
