27.
The hyperventilating that was going on next to me was starting to bother me as I took off towards the hotel. Eric swallowed hard as he stared at me wide eyed. He was probably sober now.
"Y-y-you k-killed him! You killed him!"
Wonderful, more people stuttering around me.
I bit my lower lip, nodding at his words as I turned the corner, eyeing the mirrors to see if we were being followed.
"H-how.. why?"
"He was sent to kill you, dumb ass. Would you rather me not kill him and have him off you instead?"
"No." He shook his head.
"Okay, then shut the hell up. You can thank me later."
He rested in his seat now, still breathing heavily as he looked out the window.
I stopped at a red light, looking around us in the dark. I could see the hotel from the distance as we hit the fancy parts of the neighborhood now.
"Where are we going?"
I licked my lips, looking at him to the side of me for a moment. "A hotel. You're going to get some shut eye and sober up cause I'm not dealing with your drunk ass for the rest of this trip."
"Then where to next?"
I stepped on the gas a moment before the light turned green. "A safe place away from people who want to kill you." I lied. I had no idea what Project X wanted to do with Eric.
Pulling into a parking spot under the hotel, I killed the ignition and looked around as silence appeared. Eric seemed to look as if he was about to pass out, which was a good thing. I got out of the car first and he followed. I locked the car and had him walk in front of me as I searched the area for anything out of the ordinary, but everything seemed to be quiet right now. I pressed the button and waited for the elevator to arrive. Eric let out a vocal yawn, to which led me to yawn as well.
The ding to the elevator came and we both stepped in. I pressed the button for the floor and watched the doors closed before we descended upward.
"I'm sorry." Eric whispered.
"Don't apologize to me. You should be saying sorry to your sister."
I felt his eyes on me as my words sank into him.
"I know. But I wasn't talking about that." He mumbled.
I looked over at him with a raised eyebrow before the elevator's door's opened on my floor and I stepped out. I looked both ways quickly, eyeing the area before I gently nudged him forward to the room.
"I was apologizing, for us."
I closed my eyes and let out a sigh. Of course he would be.
I grabbed the key card out of my pocket and opened the door slowly, my eyes scanning the room closely to see if anyone had the balls to break in while I was gone. I walked in and waved him in quickly before I closed the door and locked it, fishing out my gun.
"Stay here." I ordered and pointed to the corner of the room by the door.
"Arabella.."
I ignored him as I walked around the room, opening the bathroom and bedroom doors to survey the rooms quickly. No one. I walked back into the living room, seeing as Eric didn't listen to my orders and sat on the couch next the duffel bag full of guns I had left.
"Go sleep it off. We have to hit the road early tomorrow."
"I want to talk first."
"We have all day to talk. I'm not in the mood, so go." I pointed to the bedroom.
