"Well, well, well.. look who decided to join us!"

I was yanked closer to Xavier, one arm around my stomach and the other around my throat to keep me in place. I was his human shield from the gun that was still pointing towards me, mostly.

"Let her go." Aiden repeated, louder this time.

Xavier cracked a chuckle as his thumbs on both hands began to rub against my skin, one against my throat and the other against the bottom of my bra, to which was striking a nerve in me. One inch further up and I'm going to murder him.

"You're not going to shoot me." He told Aiden confidently. "He's not going to shoot me." He repeated into my ear before licking and biting my lobe.

I could feel the smile on his lips as I felt his lips brush against my ear and down my neck. "You know Aiden.. your girl here has quite the little fight in her. I thought for sure she'd be a limp piece of meat after last night and now here she is.." He licked my neck slowly making me cringe. ".. tasting ever so delightful." He looked up now.

I stared at Aiden who stood in place, inches away from us. His jaw was tightly clenched together as his face held the most angry expression I've ever seen. It made me second guess on if he was actually going to shoot him or not. It was almost as if Xavier was taunting him with me, dangling me in front of him like I was some sort of meat on a stick.

"Now I know why your mind is always wrapped around this one."

"Stop it." Aiden growled. "Let go of her."

"She's the one who got away.. right? Is that why -"

"- this is between you and me, Xavier.. leave her out of it!"

Xavier laughed once again, making my own body shake along with his. "Oh but it isn't." He stopped laughing. "Brother." He paused, gripping me tighter. "Did he ever tell you why I'm like this?" He asked me in my ear, his nose nudging it playfully.

"Yes."

"Oh?" He lit up in surprise. "He told you about Layla?"

"Xavier!"

I saw it in Aiden's eyes after he yelled his name, the laughter that beamed out of the crazed vampire behind me pushed Aiden to the next level. I saw that look before, one I knew well because I had it in my own eyes during missions. Missions to kill. It was a fiery anger that fueled the inner killer within us, one that Project X spiked inside us all.

In that moment, I could almost hear the bullet take off. In that moment I knew, Aiden was going to pull that trigger, and I knew he was going to regret it afterward.

Before he had the chance to, I pushed my foot out to adjust my stance and grabbed Xavier's shoulder with one hand and his arm with the other and pulled him forward and as I bent down, pulling him over my body and sending him on the floor next to my feet. He landed on his back with a chuckle as he beamed up at me in amusement. Just as he was about to reached up to strike his next attack against me, I grabbed either sides of his head and twisted, snapping his neck. The sound echoed the room around us as his body fell limp to the dirty floor. I let out a sigh of relief and took a step back.

"What did you do?" Aiden asked quickly and concerned as he came closer.

"Relax, he's not dead. He's napping."

He looked down at his clone, letting out a breath before putting the gun back to where he stationed it before looking up at me briefly. "Did he hurt you?"
