44.
Hearing groaning as I walk down the corridor, I peeked over seeing a guard gasping for air as he held his side. He was bleeding out from a bullet wound in his neck, his back against the wall. He reached for his gun that laid on his leg as he seen me turn the corner, but before he had time to raise his weapon, I fired a bullet between his eyes. Ending his misery once and for all.
You could say I'm ruthless, heartless, a cold hearted cunt even. That all may be true, but when you fuck with my family, you get the angry side of me. I was on a mission, one that needed to end here and now before anything else happens. My niece was saved, we took control over this situation without a casualty. The only thing we didn't get on the list of things to do was find the Novak's, if they were even here. Being vampire's their heat signatures weren't going to register, being dead and all. Though we went through almost all of this place and haven't stumbled upon a single vampire. Just small children.
I hit the elevator, having that being the only way up, and I sure as hell wasn't taking the sewer again.
"I'm sending it down, give me a sec." Bryan notified as I watched the elevator's number being stuck on floor one.
I licked my lips, calling Aiden through the ear coms, but no response. I clenched my jaw just thinking of every horrid situation this kid could be in.
The elevator door's open and I entered, hitting the floor one button before it closed and started its decent upward.
"Where is he?" I asked.
"I believe he's out side. There's someone with him."
"Can you get satellite images on him?"
"Been trying to, but something is blocking it."
"Blocking it?" I asked confused.
"Yeah, I don't know what."
I blew out a breath as I landed at the cabin door, seeing three bodies laid out on the floor. The welcome party for the three boys from earlier. I stepped over two as I made my way out and opened the front door that was barely still on it's hinges. Raising my gun in case anymore were out and about, I began to walk forward.
"He's heading towards the woods in the back of the house." Jackson's voice rang in my ears and I immediately started to run.
The woods were starting to darken from night fall approaching, luckily I had enhanced eyesight. I heard shouting coming from the distance, a voice that sent waves of anger through my bones as it echoed inside my head. It was Walsh, and if Aiden was with her, that could lead to one or more things.
After I told him about the ring, I noticed Xavier had one that looked similar but it was just an ordinary ring he admitted he found on one of the dead girl's he killed. He liked it and took it. I told Aiden to wear it in case he did run into Walsh, we'd give her an element of surprise if she tried anything. And sure enough, when I made it through a small clearing of the tree's, the two of them there were arguing.
"I told you this was never going to work. You will never be with her you fool." Sarah growled in anger and threw her best punch at Aiden.
I clenched my jaw at the site. I knew it wouldn't hurt him, as he was stronger than I, but just seeing her put her hands on him made every bit of protectiveness I had for him go into overdrive.
"You think you could run away from me and run to her and live happily ever after?" She laughed. "Not when you are property of Exodus. Not when you're are mine." She yelled, her foot raising up, hitting him right in between his legs.
