Aiden's POV
Tugging on my shirt in my cell after a quick shower, I heard the footsteps from the hall stop at the doorway. I looked up from the corner of my eye to see the usual guard that was attached to Walsh's hip standing there before he motioned his head for me to follow him. I raised a brow, curious as to where I was needed now. I just left Walsh's office for our usual rendezvous, which led me to a scolding hot shower afterward.
"What?" I finally spoke up.
"She's asking for you."
I clenched my jaw tightly at his words. Ever since I agreed to stop hanging around Arabella, Walsh has been clingy as ever. I took a seat at the end of my cot and put my boots on quickly and roughly. Just the thought of seeing her again made my stomach turn. But I had to obey. For my sake and for hers.
I followed the guard into the elevator, watching as he pressed one of the basement floors, one that was underground. I swallowed hard. I knew what was down there. Nothing good. If I had to go through another training mission down here, I'd loose my fucking mind.
Before my mind even began to start wandering, we arrived on the floor and I followed him out, through the dim lit hallways and into a cell block. He opened the door and I walked in. Two people were in the room, watching through a window until I came into view and they turned their attention to me for a split second. Walsh and some doctor I've seen a few times. The site of him made my blood boil.
"Ma'me." I nodded my head towards Walsh, playing good soldier.
She looked at the guard and motioned for him to leave and he did, closing the door behind him.
"Like I was saying, Director, It's been eight hours. I've never seen anything like this."
"You're kidding right?" Walsh asked with a huff.
"No, I'm not. No human we've ever trained has lasted this long before passing out or.. worse."
I listened to the conversation, confused as to why I was present but my curiousness took over and I couldn't help but look through the window to see what they were talking about. I froze in place as I saw the sight. The dark brown locks that was soaked with water and blood, curtained her face as she was hung from the ceiling. Her wrists were tied together with thick rope that looked like it was from a boat, which hung from a giant hook that dangled from the ceiling. Her body was half naked, only a bra and panties covered her form which was soaked with water, blood, and dirt stained her skin. I felt my chest start to tighten the more I looked at her hanging there. I could see her breathing, the only evidence that she was in fact still alive under the scars, welts and bruises that covered her body.
"What are you doing to her?" I heard myself ask angrily as I whipped my head toward Walsh.
She looked at me sternly, as if she was about to reprimand me but her face changed and turned her attention towards the doctor again.
"Go forward with the next step." She ordered.
The doctor looked like he was about to object as he looked at Arabella hanging there before he nodded and walked out.
Walsh snapped her head towards me quickly as soon as we were alone. "Don't ever question me in front of anyone again."
I felt my upper lip curl as I stared down at her angrily. I knew she had it in for Arabella ever since she arrived here, but killing her like this.. I didn't even think she would stoop this low. "I did what you asked. I stayed away from her. Why are you trying to kill her?"
