23.
Eric Cooper.
I looked at his name and the photo inside the folder. I stared at it as my eyes ran down the details while Jackson sped down the road. Eric Cooper. I haven't seen this kid since I was sixteen years old.
The sound of a phone ringing made me jump slightly in my seat. Jackson took out an iPad and handed it over, seeing the 'Unknown Caller' ID, I hit answer and saw the face of Jason Brooks appear. His office was a background as he sat in his chair, dressed in a simple dress shirt per usual.
"I've trust you read the file?" He asked.
I stared into his electronic version of his eyes through the screen and muttered a simple 'yeah'.
"Good. His last location we could find is back in your hometown in Texas. Jackson is going to take you to the airport. You'll have five minutes to pack a bag. Once -"
" - whoa whoa whoa." I interrupted him, moving the iPad as I raised a brow. "You're sending my ass back to the place ya'll kidnapped me from and I only have five minutes to pack a bag for this epic trip down memory lane? Are you fucking kidding me right now?"
"Arabella, we have reason to believe one of Zubari's hit man are after Cooper."
"The dude I met in the desert last week?"
"Yes. Cooper has a history of - "
"Yeah I read the file. He's a arms dealer for both sides of the war. Arming both bad guys and making profit from it."
"Correct. He's been selling to Zubari and his organization for some time now. Only under another alias. A few months ago, Zubari found out he was also selling to the enemy and sent his men after Cooper and his family. His sister is in protection and I need you to grab him and bring him to us before Zubari's men do."
"Or you know.. you can keep a close eye on our boarders and not have Zubari's terrorist buddies enter U.S soil. That's a great plan to me."
Jackson stifled a chuckle in his throat and he started to head for my house.
"Arabella." Jason said with a warning tone in his voice.
"Okay fine." I rolled my eyes.
"You're flying out to Dallas. When you land, there will be an agent waiting for you. You're going to switch cars with him, search for Cooper and drive him to Arizona. Everything you'll need will be in the glove box in the car."
I inhaled sharply with a nod. "Yes boss." I hissed through my teeth.
"And behave." He warned before the screen faded to black and he was off the screen.
I rolled my eyes again, tossing the iPad in the back seat and ignored Jackson's chuckling under his breath.
"You don't seem thrilled at all for this mission."
"You wouldn't either if you had to travel across the damn country to find your ex."
I spotted the shock go through his face before he busted out a laugh.
"Damn, I did not see that one coming!"
"Fuck off." I muttered, leaning back in the leather seat and watched as my neighborhood past by.
It only took five more minutes until he pulled up to a spot down the block from my house. I muttered 'stay here' to Jackson before stepping out of the car and closed it, jogging towards my house as I went in search for my keys.. and phone. Shit.
