Penelope

"Honey, wake up."

I felt his strong hands move me, shaking me awake. I opened my eyes to meet his. He smiled warmly at me as he crouched down in front of the back seat, the door opened.

"Come on, we're here."

I rubbed my eyes and sat up slowly. "Where are we?"

"Virginia."

I looked around us as I slid out of the car. Everywhere was trees. I think we're in a forest.

He closed the door and started to walk beside me, but I realized Mr. Wiggles wasn't with me.

"Mr. Wiggles!" I pouted and started back from the car.

"Wait, Penny. You'll get him back later on, okay?" He grabbed my hand quickly, stopping me from running.

"No! I need him! He protects me."

He sighed and let go of my hand. "Stay here. I'll get him."

I bit my lower lip, watching him walk back to the car and grabbed Mr. Wiggles from the back seat. He handed me him before grabbing my hand again and I followed besides him towards a small house in the middle of the woods.

My stomach began to hurt and my fingers clenched around his hand, my arm holding onto Mr. Wiggles even tighter as a man came out from the house and waved his hand. I saw he had a gun, tucked under his shirt. At least Aunt Bella did a better job at trying to hiding it, especially from me.

"About time." The other man said, before looking down at me. "You must be Penelope."

I looked up at my dad, holding onto him tightly. He said he would protect me, that he won't let anyone hurt. I was trusting him on that. Until my mom gets here.

"A shy little one, huh?" The man raised his brow before looking at my dad. "She's excepting you."

The man tilted his head towards a wall. "Should I be expecting visitors?"

Dad shrugged a shoulder. "Cleaned my trail as best as I could with the time I had."

"Doesn't matter. My mom will be here soon." I muttered, mostly to myself.

The man crouched down towards me, a smile on his face. "Is that so?"

Dad's hand tightened around mine just a bit more. I nodded, smiling back at him. He reminded me of this boy in my class. He always bullied me, or tried to at least. Says means things, pushes me around. Uncle Bryan said he was picking on me cause he liked me. Aunt Bella told me to kick him in the balls.

The man laughed, shaking his head. "I see that sass runs in the family."

He smiled down at me before reaching down to pick me up. "Come on. Let's get this over with."

He walked down the small room towards where the man nodded before. Dad pushed a button on the wall that was hiding before the wall opened up into two doors and then an elevator. He walked in and the doors closed before we started to go down. I looked at him, feeling my tummy start to hurt more with nervous butterflies. His blue eyes looked at me before raising both of his eyesbrows.

"Clear your mind. Don't think about anything. Don't give anything away, okay?"

I nodded slightly, earning a quick smile from him before he kissed my cheek. "Thats my girl."
