Aiden's POV

My entire body was tense as Layla spit out the truth behind what happened between the three of us to Arabella. A part of me was almost ashamed by what happened. I wish it didn't happen, but it did, so I just had to live with the consequences. Those consequences being the lives of those poor innocent women who didn't deserve to die the way they did. Those consequences also leading to the one woman who drove me crazy to almost die before my eyes, in the hands of my clone. I made that mistake, and now I had to fix it. To fix Xavier, to make it up to him somehow.

I wasn't expecting her to stay and offer her help, but I should have known better. She wanted to make sure Xavier wasn't going to hurt anyone else. It was in her nature to help.. even though half the time you wouldn't even see that in her with that I don't give a shit  attitude she held.

I knew there was going to be tension between Layla and her. The two of them held the same personality, more or less. The only difference was.. Arabella was a killer. She hits before she thinks. I saw that in her eyes downstairs as the two woman almost got into a cat fight. I knew the outcome of that would end up bloody, Layla most likely being the loss. She was tough, yes.. but not as hard as Arabella was.

As I looked at her for the last time before she left the room to make that phone call to whomever she was going to ask to help us, I searched for any sign in her eyes or body that she cared about what Layla had said what happened between us. But I couldn't. Not even a hint was there. I was almost grateful for it, that she didn't look at me any different. Then again, she didn't have any idea who Layla was.. and hopefully it would stay that way. A part of me was also confused. Maybe I thought too much into it, maybe she didn't have those feelings towards me anymore. It had been years after all.

Every time I looked at her face, all I can recall was those flashes of happiness I felt in those dreams. They were short, just minutes maybe.. but they were enough. I wondered if they were actually real.. if they really happened. Seeing as my warning to her didn't help, I wondered if it was really just my head fucking with me.

As she left the room, I turned back around and filled a glass with cold water. I felt Layla's eyes on me, waiting for attention but I didn't give in. I leaned over the counter closing my eyes. Every muscle in my body was tight with stress and worry. I felt a hand on my back and I flinched at the touch. I turned my face to the side to see Layla standing next to me, her hand rubbing my back slowly in an attempt to comfort me. I guess my stress was visible.

"Are you okay?" She asked, concerned.

I shrugged off her hand as I twisted my body around to face her quickly. "No, I'm not." I grabbed the glass of water and downed the remainder of it before putting it in the sink.

"Do you really think she could help us with him?"

I raised my eyebrow as I stared down at her. I knew she wasn't too fond of Arabella, second guessing her word was to be expected. "If she can't, then nobody can." I said confidently.

She swallowed hard, crossing her arms over her chest. "You have a lot of faith in that girl." She shook her head lightly. "It's a dangerous move having her here. She works for them, Aiden. If they track her somehow and show up here.. its the end of us."

I clenched my jaw, knowing what she said was true. I looked to the doorway, hearing Arabella speaking through the phone before I looked back down at Layla. "It's more dangerous for her being here than for us."

Her face scrunched up in confusion. "Do you really think that?"

I opened my mouth to speak, but before I was able to I heard the painful groan that escaped from the other room. I looked towards where the sound was coming from before running to the living room, using my enhanced speed to get there faster than a blink of an eye. I caught Arabella before she fell to the floor, her hands at her head as she continued to groan in pain. I lifted her head to see what was going on, but she struggled against me, trying to curl up in a ball.

"Bella.. whats wrong?" I asked quickly, worried. The only answer I received was a soft cry of pain.

I grabbed her head again, forcefully as I cupped her soft skin. My thumbs opening her eyes to reveal they were rolled to the back of her head.

"What's going on?" Layla asked, standing next to me.

"Son of a bitch." I growled in anger, letting go of her head and stormed downstairs.

I unlocked the door quickly, and slammed it open and ran in, finding Xavier grinning up at me wickedly before winking. His maniacal laughter filled the room as the chains that held him rattled.
