Three Months Later
"From this moment on, meeting number 39 is in session."
The gavel hit the large oak table that eight men and woman sat at. Five men, dressed in suits. All with at least eight to ten years of government experience under their belts. Three women sat among them, dressed in business professional attire. They were in fact the brains behind this operation.
"Now, I know we've conducted this meeting for an important matter. Most of us are becoming weary about our prime subjects who are currently in the wind." The head of the table turned towards the other end, to which another male was seated in. A black pinstripe suit covered his tall and muscular physique.
"Richard, care to fill us in on the matter?"
Richard gave a quick small smile at the head of the table with a slight head nod before glancing down at his notes before turning his attention to the other members around the table.
"Agent Brooks has been replaced along with new staff members placed in Arizona. We're going through with phase three in Project X, and all is running smoothly." Richard informed before continuing. "Last known whereabouts of Agent Callahan and Agent Braxton have been in Italy. I currently have a special operative on their trail, documenting their every move."
"That can be dangerous." One member spoke up.
Richard looked at the woman, his blue eyes meeting her hazel ones. "The two of them together can be dangerous yes."
"I was referring to your one man team trailing them. Braxton and Callahan are highly trained to detect followers. If they spot your man, that could spook them."
"My operative is highly trained and is well aware of the situation. He knows how dangerous and trained these two are. Which is why he's only tracking them. If he does get breached, he knows to back down."
Another member, a man sitting next to the head of the board, shook his head at the situation. "This is ridiculous. I get Callahan is an asset to this project, but at what cost? She's proved time and time again that she sees us as an enemy and nothing more. We're wasting our time - "
"She will be on our side soon enough. When that happens, Braxton will join her." Richard encouraged.
"We are still wasting our time with her."
"She has a hundred percent kill rate with her missions. She's high trained, highly effective. Throughout the years she's proved that the secondary serum can be stretched. Her abilities with the serum has expanded more greatly then we had ever expected, which is why I suggest her for the third generation. With the upgrade, she is exactly what this program needs, what this country needs."
"You sound very sure of yourself, Richard."
"I am. I'm the one who created her after all, the one trained her and the one who placed her here in the first place. Trust me." Richard eyed every person who sat around the table. "If she does prove me wrong, I will be the one to retire her and take the loss. You have my word."
"I do hope you're not putting your personal relations with Agent Callahan first, Richard. If I do see this going sideways, if you won't cooperate and fail to keep your word, We have no choose but to retire you both." The head of the table said.
"You have my word."
***
Once Richard walked out of the elevator and out of the building, the sun hit him hard in his face. He squinted and pulled out his sunglasses before his driver ushered him into the parked SUV on the curb, already awaiting. Once the door was closed, he fished out his phone and dialed his desired target. It only took two quick rings before the young male voice answered.
"Do you have eyes on them now?" He asked as the vehicle pulled away from one of the many important and tall buildings in D.C.
"Yes. Both eating chicken salads. Care to know what dressing they prefer?"
"Don't you get snarky with me now. I'm just calling to let you know Im scheduling phase 2 in a few weeks."
"You're jump starting early. I take it the meeting didn't go so well."
"They're not thrilled, but I have to show them something. Be ready to head back state side next week."
"You got it boss."
The End.
