"Jasper Bieber."
I took a large step forward and walked onto the stage. Once I was up there, my face went red in fear. I hated being the centre of attention and up on this graduation stage all eyes were on my. The first man I came across was one I didn't recognize. He whispered a quick congratulations and then I proceeded to the next person. This one was a woman that I still didn't recognize. She congratulated me as well and I move on to the last person. He was the man I had become closest to during my high school years. The principal, Mr. Spencer. He had been the most understanding with everything that I had gone through in the last two years and he had done his best to make sure I stayed in school, not dropped out like I had been planning. He smiled at me and held out his hand for me to shake, "You did good Kid." I put my hand in his and he jolted my arm and gave my hand a supportive squeeze, "Keep your head up and come see me every once in a while."
I nodded, "We'll come visit." He patted my shoulder and then extended his arm again. Now he was holding my diploma. I took a deep breath and took it out of his hand then turned and stared out at the audience. It took me a few seconds to spot my dad and girlfriend.
My dad's age was starting to show and his hair was starting to turn grey at the front of his hairline. Wrinkles were starting to appear around his eyes and mouth and he was grinning like an overly proud father... he probably was overly proud. When we found out about Gavin nobody thought I would finish school.
Beside him was my beautiful fiancée. I don't know what she saw in me because I didn't have the same looks as either of my parents, I was awkward and shy, and she was almost a year older than me, but she had fallen for me and I had fallen for her. Her blonde hair and bright green eyes were completely irritable, so could you blame me? We had only been dating for 6 months when she found out she was pregnant. I had proposed right away and we had been relatively happy since.
Then my son, Gavin was hooked onto her hip. He had turned a year old a few months ago and he was fully mobile. If we didn't have our eyes on him he was running around getting into trouble. Luckily, he looked like his mother and matched her blonde hair blue eyed appearance, but he was a goofball like me. I had never loved anything as much as I loved him.
There was a flash and then I was sent off the stage. I made my way back to my seat and waited as the rest of my grad class was called up. I didn't know most of them but I applauded anyways and when the last person left the stage the entire class erupted in whispers. I watched as Mr. Spencer walked up to the podium and smiled, "Congratulations Grad Class of 2034. I wish you all good health and fortune in the future. You're all done here."
Then the grads all started shouting and threw their caps in the air. I laughed as the all tumbled back onto us, then shook my head and sent mine into the air.

"Hey my little man!" I shouted and scooped Gavin out of Freya's arms. Once I had a steady hold on him I bent over and kissed the top of Freya's head and she wrapped her arm around my waist. My dad was standing right behind them and he patted my shoulder and let out a sigh.
"I'm really proud of you son." He was smiling and I could tell he was happier than he had been in years. It had been hard for him to support me through everything, but he did because I was his son. After I was born everything had gone to shit in our family. He blamed me for a lot and raising me was difficult for him. Braxton, Krystal and Amelia raised me more than my dad did but I didn't blame him. The first few years of my life were really hard for him.
"Thanks dad." I pressed my lips to my sons cheek and listened as he burst into laughter. A few of the other graduates were watching me and smiling while others were giving me sideways glares.
He took a deep breath and crossed his arms, "Well," he messed up Gavin's hair and chuckled at his grandson, "I'm going to see your mom. I'll tell her you say hi. She's going to be so proud of you, son."
I nodded. Time to visit mom. "We'll see you for dinner?"
He nodded and said goodbye and just as he was walking away I felt my phone buzzing in my back pocket. Freya took a step back and I pulled it out.
I didn't hesitate to answer and Amelia's face was on the screen, "Baby brother!" She gasped. I could tell she was in bed, "You graduated!"
"Crazy, right?" I laughed and Freya took our kid from my arms. I held up the phone so she could see my face. She had always loved FaceTiming people so I always expected them opposed to regular calls.
"So what are you gonna do now?" She said as Oliver appeared over her shoulder and waved at me.
I shrugged, "No clue. Probably get a job. Dad won't want to support my broke ass forever."
She laughed and shrugged, "We always need more doctors if you ever want to come work with me."
I shook my head, "No way. It was hard enough for me to finish high school. I doubt I'd make it through another 9 years."
She took a deep break and smiled, "I'm so proud of you little bro." She looked down and but her lip, "You've made all of us so proud. Honestly, I can't tell you how proud I am of you."
"Stop," I smiled and looked over at my girl, who had started talking to an old friend, "I couldn't have done it without you guys. You have made this possible for me. You've done so much for Freya and I... more than you could have ever imagined."
"I haven't done much." She was smirking a little bit and looked at Oliver, who was laying his head on her shoulder, "I just helped you study a few times." Then her smile faded away and she bit the inside of her lip and exhaled slowly. She quickly handed the phone to Oliver and disappeared.
"Shit." He mumbled and then sat up, "I gotta go." Oliver said and watched something off the screen. I heard a door slam closed and then he took a deep breath, "We will see you guys soon." The the call ended and Freya gave me a smile like she knew what had just happened, but I shook my head confused. She laughed and patted my shoulder before dragging me back into the group of graduated grads so we could enjoy the last moments of my high school life.
