"So...is this it?" Trinity asked Zach as they pulled over by a park. He nodded. "They have a great view of the countdown fireworks here." Trinity frowned. "Countdown? Wait...today's the 31st already?" She exclaimed, surprised. "Yeah, you forgot?" Zach replied. She cursed. "I have school in two days, dammit!" He smiled a little and led her over a small hill at the edge of the park. There were already countless people laying on mats on the grass. They found the perfect spot and waited quietly as the sun went down.

(Zach's P.O.V.)

I watched at my beautiful girlfriend sleeping beside me as we waited for the countdown. I glanced at my watch and noticed it was five minutes from midnight. I decided to wake her up. Leaning over, I placed a light kiss on her forehead and whispered in her ear. "Time to wake up, beautiful." Her eyes shot open, startled. "Whass the time?" she asked, slurring a little as she rubbed her eyes. "Five minutes to midnight." I told her. She smiled and sat up. Around us, many people were also waiting in anticipation. An old couple next to us noticed the two of us. "You two a couple?" The old man asked us. "Yeah." I said and smiled as I linked my fingers with Trinity's. "I miss those days with my wife." He smiled sadly at his wife beside him. I nodded, not knowing what to say. "Live it while it lasts, boy." He finally said. "Thank you, I will, sir." I replied. He smiled brightly. "Haven't been called that in years. I'm General Joseph Churchill of the UK navy." I jaw dropped. "Churchill, like Winston Churchill?" I asked in shock. "My father was a good man, mistaken by many others." He muttered. "Pleasure meeting you, sir." I told him. "Can I have your autograph?" Trinity piped up suddenly. Mr. Churchill and I laughed. "Of course, girl." He said, another smile appearing on his wrinkly face. Trinity pulled out a pen and a piece of paper for him to sign on. Then, I heard a distant booming voice start counting down from 10. Almost immediately, everyone started joining in. "8...7...6" Everyone chanted. I turned to Trinity and turned out she had the same idea as me. She crushed her lips to mine just as the fireworks began. There were two sets of fireworks everywhere. One in my head and the other in the skies. "Trinity..." I mumbled. "We're going to miss the fireworks." We broke apart and she giggled. "Alright, you worrywart." She turned her line of vision to the sky but mine remained trained on her. When the show ended, I was still staring at her. She turned her head, amber eyes meeting mine. "I love you," She said. I smiled. "I love you too..."
