Why Stampy has characters not friends

This title is very vague but I have to explain this:

A couple years ago I was a huge fan of Stampys Lovely World Series, however, after all his friends left the I seemed to loose interest.
Last year Lee left, which is a whole other story which I am sure you've heard of by now. Then a while ago Lionmaker, who wasn't a hugely frequent helper left. They were both accused of pedophilia.
I watched lots of Lionmakers questionaries with Stampy and they got quite deep, they really were good friends.

These two people turning out to be, basically, criminals must have shocked him a lot as he was very close to them. Which really pulled the jolt of, people aren't as they seem.

I think Stampy makes people play characters such as 'William Beaver' and 'Polly Reindeer' because he is scared that someone is going to turn against him with their name all over his series, I can't imagine how he felt when Lee, his major helper turned.

So, I do understand why he changed his friends gamer tags to character names.
Though now it is very rare that I would watch his videos I do understand him and he has done a good job to keep the series on. Fair play to him.
