"Remind me why we can't just schedule a flight?" Scott asked as he finished packing everything into the back of the Jeep.
"Well for one it would have been much more money than gas. And two it's like. A six hour drive Scott. You'll live." You smirked as you put the bag of snacks where you could reach them from the front. "Now hush up and get in. I'd like to get there sometime today." You said hopping into the driver seat.
"Okay well then let me ask why we are going a week before christmas. Normally people go to family the day of Christmas." He said buckling in beside you.
"Because," you rolled your eyes, "other than Clint I'm pretty much the only one with family to go to so I do it early that way we have Christmas to spend and get drunk as a team." You explained as you pulled out.
The two of you fell silent for a little while before you grabbed your phone.
"Y/n focus on the road." Scott scolded.
"I am focusing on the road." You mumbled and you watched both the road and your phone. Once it was connected to your Bluetooth stereo you turned on your Playlist and smiled as the first cords vibrated through your speakers.
'She says she's no good, with words but I'm worse'
"Seriously Y/n?" You looked over confused. "Fall Out Boy?" You rolled your eyes and turned it up.
'Weighed down with words too, over dramatic, tonight it's a can't get much worse vs no one should ever feel like.'
The music cut out before the next verse and you frowned as you looked at Scott who was looking at your phone. "Hey!" However, you didn't stay upset as the next song started.
'Coming out of my cage and I've been doing just fine. Gotta gotta be down cuz I wanted up.'
You started singing making Scott roll his eyes. "I'm afraid for the next song. It's only getting worse." He said hitting the next button.
'When I was, a young boy, my father, took me into the city, to see a marching band'
"Oh oh oh leave it here." You bounced slightly in your seat.
'He said son when you grow up, would you be, the savior of the broken, the beaten and the damned.'
"Yup just keeps getting worse." Scott nodded and scrolled through your list while you sang. "I can't believe you listened to this stuff, and still do for that matter." He laughed
"Are you saying you never listened to this stuff?"
"No! I didn't go through an Emo phase!" He laughed
"Neither did I!" You laughed and shook your head.
"Damn Y/n!" He said surprised as the next song started. You felt your cheeks redden and you bit your lip.
"Say what you will about Nickleback, but this album was good." You defended yourself.
'No' is a dirty word. Never gonna say it first. 'No' is just a thought that never crosses my mind. Maybe in the parking lot, better bring your friends along. Better all at once than just one at a time"
"I must say I'm shocked. And slightly horrified. Mostly shocked. You seemed so innocent." Scott laughed and clicked the next song.
'My girlfriend's a dick magnet. My girlfriend's gotta have it. She's hot can't stop up on stage doin shots'
"Okay next!" You shouted making Scott laugh. Normally you would be signing along but with your rather new boyfriend it was just embarrassing.
'The way you shake it, I can't believe it, I ain't ever seen an ass like that. The way you move it you-'
"Whoa!" Scott exclaimed when he heard the next words. "You were a hard core child when you were little." He laughed as he changed the song again.
"I had an older brother okay!" You defended yourself laughing. "He was my best friend and I was up his butt so what ever he listened to so did i." You smiled softly at the memories.
Scott turned the radio down while Thnks fr th mmrs played in the background. "Wait. You had a brother? Don't you mean have?"
You shook your head slightly. "Uhh no. He was hit my a drunk driver. Didn't wake up from the coma." You sighed as you turned into a gas station. "I need to grab a drink because we didn't pack any. Need anything?" You asked and he shook his head as he looked at your phone. You shrugged and ran into the quick stop.
"Is that why you don't drink?" Scott asked as you opened the door to climb back in.
"What?" You asked confused as you opened the energy drink. "Oh yeah. I guess I don't want to be like that low life that had no consideration for anyone else." You shrug and down half the drink.
"Okay there spitfire." Scott said taking the can from you. "Come on. Just five more hours. Let's go." He gestured back to the highway. "But this time I pick the music."
You shook your head. "Nope. Driver picks the music shotgun shuts his cake hole." You smirked but rolled your eyes when he pouted. "Yeah okay whatever."
There was a moment of silence before Seven nation army started to vibrate through your speakers.
The rest of the ride seemed to go quickly much to your pleasure. The two of you teased and joked with each other and sang off key to multiple songs. When you pulled into your parents drive way you took a deep breath.
"Okay. Remember. Don't tell them you're part of the actual Avengers unless someone knows you are. My dad and uncle will otherwise never let you alone with questions and their own stories. Don't let them know you're and ex theif otherwise you'd be thrown out of the house." You rattled off without taking a breath. "And for God's sake don't take a mint from Uncle Mike, don't ask why just don't do it." You thought a moment before nodding once.
"Is there anything I can do?" Scott snorted with amusement.
"Yeah. Be sweet and amusing." You smiled and kissed his cheek.
