These are just a bunch of random spitfire one-shots I created. Some of them have more of a happier tone while others do not. Some of the chapters are related to one another, I will clearly label them at the top of each chapter. The pairings in these...
This is set a few years after the end of season one, but before the beginning of season two.
Day 12
It had snowed the night before outside of Artemis' and Wally's house. The snow fell in heaps, amounting to a foot and a half. Wally was so excited the night before, he stayed by the window for an hour just watching the snow.
Artemis was quite shocked to find him so still for that long of a time. Wally just shrugged and said, "I love the snow, that's all." She figured it had something to do with a childhood memory, she had a few pleasant ones growing up.
She didn't know how long he watched the snow, she fell asleep shortly afterwards on the couch. When she woke up, a wool blanket was placed over her shoulders, with Wally sprawled out on the floor. She smiled at his sleeping figure before getting up to make breakfast.
Artemis didn't know how tired her boyfriend would be when he woke up, so she decided to be generous and make holiday themed pancakes. She knew she would have to know how to cook a lot when she moved in with him. That speedster could eat the entire contents of their fridge and still be hungry.
That was why their refrigerator was always fully stocked.
She was in the middle of making herself a star shaped pancake when she feld arms wrap around her waist. "Your plate is already on the table." She told Wally. "By the way it's your turn to make lunch today." They devised a plan to alternate the cooking amongst themselves so it doesn't overwhelm just one person.
"I'm too tired, can we go out and get something?" He asked her sitting down at their table helping himself to a huge stack of pancakes.
"It's snowing outside Kid Idiot." She told him calmly biting into her food. Wally immediately dropped his from from his mouth.
"I completely forgot it was snowing!" He used his super speed to jump out of his chair and literally run circles around Artemis. "We need to have a snowball fight Arty. We just have to."
Just to get him to stop, Artemis used a tactic similar to the ones parents did to their young children. "Yes as long as you stop running around." She quickly finished her breakfast as opposed to Wally who scarfed it down in a few seconds.
They went upstairs to put on their snow gear, jackets, boots gloves, you name it. Wally obviously got dressed much faster than Artemis by using his powers. As soon as she was bundled up, he grabbed her hand and led her outside, where they got a considerable amount of snow.
More than enough for a snowball fight.
"You can't use your powers." She warned Wally, as they took opposite sides of the lawn. Both of them were highly competitive, and won't admit that they hate losing.
"And no aiming for the face Artemis." He countered, she never had, but he felt the need to say something back. She rolled her eyes at him.
"Loser has to shovel the driveway!" She shouted just as they both formed their first snowballs. Artemis had some trouble at first making them circular, they were too lumpy. Wally kept throwing the snowballs in the wrong direction. His aim was off.
But gradually their performance eventually got better. Artemis kept hitting Wally on the head and laughing as he shrieked and dropped his own snowball. He would retaliate by sneaking up behind her and shoving handfuls of snow down her jacket.
He claimed he didn't use his powers, but she was convinced he was. How else would he be able to sneak up behind her without her knowing?
Mostly they would throw the snowballs at each other and then run for cover, which basically meant ducking behind a pile of snow or behind a tree.
At one point, they hit each other's backs and ran in opposite directions to gather more snow behind a tree, and as it turned out it was the same tree. On opposite sides of the tree, they both peered over the side to find themselves inches away from each other.
Wally was the first one to laugh, it was pretty dumb move. Artemis chuckled, but used his distraction to hit him in the face with the snow. He retaliated by tackling her into the snow facefirst.
"Wally!" She shouted or at least tried to, her voice was muffled from the snow.
"Something you're trying to say Artemis? I can't hear you." He teased her applying force gently to her back so she was essentially pinned.
"Wally!"
"Say Wally is the best." He said pushing his luck even further.
"Wally is the best now get off." Wally stood up and held out his hand for her like a gentleman. She sighed, and with no other choice grabbed onto his hand as Wally helped pull her up.
"The only reason you won was because I'm rusty." She told him, shaking off the excess snow off of her jacket. She was freezing because Wally somehow thought it was a good idea to shove snow down her shirt.
"Sure thing Arty." Wally just wrapped his arm around her shoulder and led them inside the warm house, where he would proceed to make her hot chocolate (and drink some of it when she wasn't looking) and cover her in thick blankets and talk until they fall asleep.
A/N: I know its not 12 days before, but I am a little behind on this, I won't go into the specifics. Anyway, Day 11 will be up tomorrow, and I will try to post one or two every day, and whichever number I am left with will be posted on Christmas day, most likely the afternoon because I value my sleep.
What did you guys think of this cute, short and fluffy chapter? Keep in mind that all of the chapters will roughly be around the same length. The next chapter includes Artemis and Wally babysitting Lian. Remember to vote, comment and share this story!
Before I go, I want to say that it took me forever to come up with a winter themed profile picture and background. I am too indecisive. And here is a picture I found of Nightwing.
