Spitfire One-Shot Chapter 26

1 Day Before Christmas

Day 1 A.K.A Christmas Eve

Today was Christmas Eve, and with less than one day before the big day, holiday spirits were at an all time high. At least in the Crock-West household, it was. Wally could not stop bouncing with joy, and Artemis couldn't stop making fun of him. In her defense, he looked ridiculous.

They were just preparing to go to her mother's house for dinner. Everyone attending was going to make food and bring it to the dinner to make it easier for her mother. It was basically a pot luck dinner.

Artemis had no idea what she was going to make. Regardless of what it would be, she was going to drag Wally into it to help. It gave her comfort knowing that Jade and Roy were going through something similar. She wondered what her sister would do to Roy. The thought made her laugh.

She had trouble explaining it to Wally. For some reason he didn't get it, or he just didn't think it was funny. Artemis liked to think it was the first one.

"What are we going to make Wally?" Artemis asked him once she put the entire contents of their fridge on the table. "What came me make out of these ingredients because I am too tired to go outside."

Wally shrugged. "Why can't we order something and say we made it." He suggested the lazy alternative.

"Come on, we can at least try before we give up and order food. Now my mom said we need to bring appetizers. That shouldn't be so hard."

"We can do a lot of cheese platters. People like cheese. I like cheese."

Artemis pondered on this for a few minutes

Artemis pondered on this for a few minutes. It would work, but she was worried they might not have enough. It was going to be packed tonight. They had over 20 people, one or two cheese platters is not going to be enough, especially when 3 of them are going to be speedsters.

"Just add some fruit or something. Anything we could find, just put it on there. I doubt anyone is going to notice, they'll all be too busy eating it or waiting for the main dish because it sucks. It could honestly go either way."

"You are not helping at all Wally, unless your main objective was for me to punch you in the face I suggest you start being productive and cutting some apples." He gulped, and starting putting back they food they weren't using in the fridge. He grabbed some apples out of their fruit stand and began slicing them, watching Artemis wearily out of the corner of his eye.

Artemis cut up thin slices of bread and their wide variety of cheese. Wally was a big fan of cheese, and now they can finally put that to use. Artemis got out some crackers, and anything else she thought would go well with it and placed it on the platter.

Wally had an ingenious idea, and as shocking as that was, it was even more shocking that it worked. They had about 3 large platters of food, all decorated nicely, and they didn't even have to cook anything in the meantime.

"You are a genius." Artemis told her boyfriend as they put everything in the car.

"Do you mind saying that again so I could record you." Wally teased kissing her cheek. "By the way, you look amazing in that dress." She was wearing the green one, she spend hours deciding on. And he was wearing a green dress shirt. They looked so adorable matching.

"I can't wait to see everyone. We shouldn't have to wait to see them all twice a year. " Artemis complained, since her and Wally quit the team, they found it harder to members of the team and the Justice League.

"Well we are seeing them 3 times this year, Thanksgiving, today and tomorrow when they come over to our house."  Wally corrected her. "But I still understand what you mean. At least we have them for the next few days."

They made it to the house, where everyone else was already waiting for them. "How is it you are so fast but still end up being last?" Barry teased his nephew.

"Uncle Barry!" He shouting running over to hug his favorite (and only) uncle. Artemis was left to carry the three platters in her arms. And once she put those down, she went around the room greeting everyone.

She made small talk with her friends and family until dinner. She talked to her mother and told her how she did an amazing job setting up the house. Artemis spent some time with Lian, picking her up so she could see the top of the Christmas tree, spoke to Jade because she look uncomfortable in this setting. She also saw her sister itching for a butter knife and thought it was best to talk her out whatever she was going to do.

Wally talked to his mom and aunt after catching up with his uncle. He had some important news that he wanted to run by them first. He wanted to propose to Artemis, and he needed their opinion. He talked to Artemis' mom on Thanksgiving to ask for her blessing.

She told Wally that he could as long as they were both ready for the commitment. Iris and his mother were so excited for them, they quickly gave him so pointers and reminders not to get advice from their husbands.

He didn't want to rush into anything, he just knew that he wanted to get married to Artemis one day in the near future.

During dinner, which was crowded enough already, was filled with the nosy chatter with dozens of conversations going on at the same time. It was so warm and comforting with their favorite people, they felt right at home.

A/N: And that is how they spent Christmas Eve, with their relatives and friends. The next chapter will be how Artemis and Wally celebrate their Christmas morning. It will be posted later today. And the 12 Days Before Christmas segment will be over. Wow this was exhausting, mostly because I decided to do it all 2 days before. I suck at time management.

Anyway let me know what you guys thought of this chapter! And remember to vote, comment and share this story :))

I made a change to my profile, you guys may have already seen it, I changed my username from Zammie4life to PsychMadeYouThink. I thought it was pretty clever, but I was pretty tired when I changed it.
