Chapter 12- Double Dates

It's been over a year since Artemis and Wally began dating. They have gone on plenty of dates together. Only this time it was different, it was a double date. And not just any double date, a double date between some of their closest friends. Zatanna and Artemis were best friends and Wally and Dick couldn't last a day without each other. They have been planning this event for a while now, it was only a matter of time before all of their schedules worked out.

The date itself was simple, a carnival on the beaches of Happy Harbor. They didn't choose to go too far since they wanted to be close to the cave. Megan and Connor were on a mission with Red Tornado and Aqualad went to Atlantis, leaving the cave empty except for Sphere and Wolf.

"Shall we start at the Ferris Wheel?" Artemis asked not really caring what the response from her friends were. She just started dragging Wally by the arm to wait on the line that seemed to grow bigger every minute. "But I wanted to go on the merry-go-round." Wally whined pouting at his girlfriend. "Suck it up Baywatch." She was used to him acting immaturely. He mumbled some colorful choice words under his breath, which naturally, she heard clearly. "Find we can go later." She was really hoping he would forget she said that.

"Hey Wally do you want to sit together?" Zatanna asked him causing Artemis to glare at her and for both boys to look at her in shock. "Don't pop a vein Artemis I'm not trying to steal your boyfriend or something. I've seen him eat, he's all yours. I just want to talk to him about something." Artemis calmed down so that she didn't look like she was going to murder her friend anymore.

"I understand Zee. I think I'm going to have a talk with Dick myself." She told Zatanna understandingly. Both Wally and Dick looked at each other uncomfortably wishing the line was somehow longer. "I'm surprised we made it out this long." Wally whispered to the boy wonder.

At last, they made it onto the ride. Artemis sitting with Dick and Wally sitting with Zatanna. "Don't look so worried Wally. I'm not going to torture you, I just want to talk." He nodded meekly in response. "If you ever hurt Artemis I won't hesitate to hurt you. I'm pretty sure I know a spell that turn you into a frog for weeks. So treat her well." Wally frowned. "Thanks for the warning Zee, but I doubt that I need it." He let out a low laugh. "I would never hurt her. If anything she would be the one to start it, physically I mean. She shot her arrow right through my heart." The magician felt at ease, she knew Wally cared deeply for Artemis, his answer just made her see how much.

"She's in good hands." They couldn't agree more.

On the other hand, Artemis was having a harder time trying to threaten Robin. She basically told him not to hurt Zatanna and everything will be ok. She figured Zatanna could harm him physically if he did anything to her. Artemis made sure to remind Robin of that. He just smiled.

Wally kept shaking the cart he and Zatana were in. It was swaying pretty fast making the magician use her magic as a last resort. She tied his arms together. The good thing was that they were so high up no one would notice. Artemis, however, was trying hard not to laugh. Dick was telling her all of Wally's embarrassing stories. She loved the one where he tripped over his own feet trying to ask a girl out on a date. She also liked the story when he got hit with a ball in the face walking out of the gym. Artemis couldn't wait to tease him about all of his embarrasing moments. If only the ride could go faster.

Once they got off of the ride she wasted no time in rushing to Wally's side. She only got half way through her joke before he began turning red. She just kissed his cheek and said that it matched his hair. He coughed to try and cover up the redness in his cheeks. "How about we play some carnival games?" She decided that she had enough fun and went along with him. Zatanna and Dick trailed right behind them.
