Winter had really settled over Storybrooke as Christmas Day was almost upon the quiet town.
'Only one more day until Christmas', Emma thought as she typed swiftly away at her computer.
She was used to working this close to Christmas, always having to chase some Christmas skip or another. She liked it that was too, not having to worry about Christmas like everyone else, it never really brought her anything but a reminder of how lonely she truly was. This year however was different. The last few years in Storybrooke there had always been too much on to focus on Christmas even though she had a family to celebrate with. No this year there was no crisis, no one trapped in another realm, no one dead and definitely no curse. It was to be the first year since the curse had been broken that everyone could enjoy a quiet Christmas. For Emma that meant finally getting a Christmas with her family; her mother, her father, her baby brother and her son. Her heart fluttered at remembering there was also someone special she got to share Christmas with this year too, her dashing pirate. Glancing at the clock for what had to be the hundredth time in an hour she suppressed a groan. 2 more hours and she was free, free from any and all paperwork for the next week. She'd offered to take up the last week of sherifing from her dad, since he had a little baby to go home to. She did want to stay at home with Henry and Killian but she knew they'd survive without her until Christmas. Yet now that it actually was Christmas Eve she was really regretting the offer. Deciding she'd been sitting for far too long Emma rose to her feet, stretching slightly before moving toward the filing cabinet. She sorted through a couple of files before two arm wrapped around her waist. A warm body moulded up against her back, a pair of lips pressing kisses along her neck, down from her ear across to her collarbone. She suppressed a moan this time, the sensation calming her instantly.
"You work far too much."
As if she hadn't already known who it was, the accent rolling off his tongue paired with the way he was kissing her made her shiver.
"Someone has too."
"Hmm, come home love. Nothing is happening, two hours is nothing."
"If it's nothing then wait two hours for me to finish and then come home."
Feeling proud of herself for her quip she moved out of his arms and back toward her desk, a smirk planted on her lips. Behind her she heard him mutter something under his breath that sounded oddly like 'minx.' In and instant he was in front of her again, grabbing her hand and pulling slightly.
"Killian-" her whine was cut off by him pressing his finger to her lips.
"Hush Swan, we are going home. Your bored here love so come home and help Henry and I finish wrapping presents."
Her mouth opened in shock, "You started wrapping presents?"
"Why is that such a surprise Swan?"
She merely let him guide her out of the sheriff station and down the streets that would eventually lead to their house. That thought alone made a warmth envelope her, the fact that she was living with her True Love constantly amazed her. Lost girl no more, Emma Swan found love, a family and most importantly; a home.
"Well cause....because you."
"Have one hand?"
He didn't seem hurt by that comment but she felt her own heart sink just a little. She loved every part of him, even the hook but she knew just how much he couldn't do. Wrapping presents was on that list, usually she'd help him without him even needing to ask. They were just in sync like that.
"I'm quite capable of many things Swan as you should very well know," the smirk he threw her with that comment definitely should have been illegal. Making her cheeks blush a deep crimson red she looked down toward her feet.
"Henry is more so wrapping them Swan, I'm kinda of just assisting him in any way I can. We've only just started though and so I thought it would be wise to come and get you and leave the lad to it. "
Her heart fluttered at the thought of her son and her boyfriend working together to wrap presents. It surprised her how okay with her and Killian's relationship Henry was. He accepted Killian almost immediately and was more then open to the idea of all three of them living together. She was grateful the two most important guys in her life got along so well.Reaching their house finally Emma noticed someone at the front door talking to Henry. At a closer glance she recognised it to be August which only meant one thing, he had Killian's present. Rushing up the stairs to greet her son she calmly told her boys she'd be in in a moment. August smiled at her and from the bag around his shoulder pulled out a carefully designed wooden box. The intricate designs of ships and waves were perfect, Emma couldn't help but gasp.
"Oh my god I can't believe how amazing it looks!"
"I promise the inside is better."
Opening the lid of the box she saw the exact present she had asked for. A replica of the Jolly Roger in a bottle for her pirate. It was designed exactly as his ship, all the intricate details perfected neatly. She felt tears come to her eyes but pushed them down.
"Thank you August! It's so beautiful I love it, it's exactly what I wanted!"
Hugging her best friend tightly she made sure she didn't crush the present between them. August hugged her back and then took the box from her hands and placed it back into he bag which he then gave to her.
"No problem, told you I'd get it done and I'd make sure it was my best work. I just hope he likes it as much as your hoping Emma."
"Oh no doubt he will. Thank you so much."
"Of course, I gotta get going but I'll see you for the Christmas party tomorrow night. Bye Em."
Nodding at him she waved him off as he rode away. Moving back inside she rushed upstairs to hide the present. As she returned Killian stopped her on the stairs.
"So what did August want?"
"Wow pirate straight to the point much? He just wanted to return something he borrowed the other day."
She knew his eyebrow would shoot up quizzically before it actually did.
"Really?"
Sensing the tinge of jealously in his words and stance she leaned forward so she was a breath away from his lips, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Promise."
She closed the distance and pressed her lips to his the moment she finished speaking. A groan in the distant caused the couple to pull away sooner than either wanted.
"Seriously guys, get a room!"
Both laughed before Emma moved to the lounge room where her son was whinging and threw a pillow his way.
