Chapter 22: she lost everything

Felicity's POV

"I'm ready whenever you are." I said sadly.

"Ok, let's go." Oliver said equally as sad.

The drive to the funeral home was silent. Oliver and I never even made eye contact. I just stared out the window as he drove. The only thing I have been able to think about for the past two days is how I could have let this happen to our unborn child. I just looked out the window trying my best not to cry. The pain was like nothing I have ever felt. I've been hurt, emotionally and physically but, nothing hurt worse then it does now. No pain is worse then losing a child.

Oliver's POV

Felicity sat with her face in her hands and I stood next to her in front of the grave of our child. We just stayed silent. We couldn't bare to look each other in the eyes.

"I'm sorry, I can't do this. I'm going to the car." Felicity said as she wiped away her tears and wheeled away.

"Let me help you." I told her trying to push her wheelchair out of the mud.

Instead of letting me help her she swatted my had away, "no, I'm fine. I got it."

I stood there alone. But lately "alone" is the only thing I've been feeling. Felicity and I barely said three sentences to each other since the night we found out that we lost the baby. I stood almost as if I was waiting for answers. Answers to why my work is crumbling around me like it is.

All of a sudden Barry was standing next to me.

"Sorry I missed the funeral." He said.

"It's ok. How is Caitlin anyway?" I asked Barry.

He hesitated for a moment,"I don't know, Oliver. She still isn't awake."

"I'm sure she'll be fine." I put my had on his shoulder.

"Anyway, how are you and felicity doing?" He asked.

"It's taken a really big toll on both of us, but Felicity, she really isn't handling it well." I told him.

"Well you can't expect her to. I mean in the past three days she lost so much. Not only did she loose this child she was carrying for over four months, but she lost her ability to walk." Barry said.

"Yeah, I know. It's just I'm really worried about her."I told him.

"I know, man." Barry said.

Then Barry's watch made a beeping noise,"sorry but I really have to go." And then he was gone.

I sat down in the car next to Felicity.

"Hey, I love you." I said.

"I love you too." She said and she leaned over and gave me a kiss.
