IMAGINE: A little girl is having fun with her new friend from preschool. As they played in the sandbox a second grader came over and stole the hat her friend was wearing exposing his bald head. "Give back" the boy said as the second grader played keep away. The little girl didn't like it and kicked the boy below the belt. The second grader dropped the hat and ran off as the little girl put the hat on her friend's head.
"There" giving him a kiss and they went back to playing. In the class room as the kids had lunch the teacher walked over to the little girl and her friend's table. "Julia may I talk to you for a minute" the teacher asked. "Be back" she said to her friend. She walked outside where her mother was waiting. "Mommy what you doing here?".
"The principal called and told me you kicked a boy in his no no spot" her mother replied. "He mean took friend's hat and wouldn't give back" she replied. "You mean Johnny Julia?" the teacher inquired. She nodded. "Johnny lost hair wears hat so head don't get burned outside" Julia remarked. "Thank you Julia why don't you go finish your lunch and I'll be back in". She gave her mother a kiss and went back in. "Now I see what happened" the teacher remarked.
"What do you mean?" her mother asked. "Well Johnny has Leukemia and he lost his hair to chemo. I guess Julia was standing up for him". Her mother looked in as Julia and Johnny were splitting a cookie together. At the end of the day Criss came to pick up Johnny and found him drawing with Julia. "Hey Johnny what you drawing?" he asked. "A rainbow". "And who's this lovely lady" as Julia smiled. "Friend daddy" he remarked. Julia waved as the teacher came over.
"I hope you don't mind keeping Johnny a little late I couldn't get out of the meeting even if the fire alarms went off in the hotel" Criss stated. "No problem Julia's mom is running a little late so Johnny had someone to have fun with. These two have become so close in such a short time Johnny's been in my class".
"Really that's nice to hear". "She even stood up to a boy that took Johnny's hat and wouldn't give it back," the teacher said. "Johnny why don't you and Julia wash up". They took off their smocks and went to the sink as Julia's mom walked in. "Talk about perfect timing Ms. Wang I'd like you to meet Johnny's father Christopher". They shook hands.
"I guess you heard what my daughter did for your son this afternoon". "Yea I'm glad Johnny has someone watching his back he doesn't like being bald but because of the chemotherapy he lost his hair that hat he wears his mother got it for him so he doesn't take it off he's afraid he's going to lose it"Criss stated. "I hope I'm not preying but did his mother die?"she asked.
"Worse she couldn't take Johnny's illness so she left him with me and split we haven't seen her since"Criss remarked as Johnny and Julia came over. "Daddy can Julia come over I want her to see doggies" Johnny asked. "Not tonight Johnny daddy's has to work and Aunt Lynn is coming to watch you". "Nuts" Julia stated. "Criss how about tomorrow the kids don't have preschool". "Is tomorrow good with you buddy".
He nodded with a smile. "Let me write down my address and I can't wait to see you" giving it to her. "And here's my number just in case and Criss if you would like the next time these two have preschool and you get into a jam I'll drive Johnny in for you". "Deal and same with Julia" Criss added. "All right now say good-bye Julia". "Bye bye Johny" she said. "Bye bye" and Johnny gave her a kiss on the check which made Julia blush and the adults chuckle.
