IMAGINE: Melissa is cleaning up after Criss left a mess in the bathroom. As she finishes she hears the door open. "I told you that was going to happen Criss"a voice called out. "Shut up" he replied with pain in his voice. Melissa comes down to see Criss leaning over a chair with JD behind him. "Criss you all right?". "He wrenched his back the doctor wants him to relax and keep a cold compress on it and he has to stay off his feet unless he needs to bath or do his business" JD replied. She can tell Criss is ready to swear up a storm so Melissa and JD help Criss upstairs to his bed.
As Criss gets comfortable the door bell rang. "I'll get it" Melissa said going down stairs "JD what's today?" Criss asked. "Friday why you got a hot date" as he gets Criss comfortable. "FUCK!!!"Criss yells. "What's wrong are you in pain?". "No Johnny is arriving for two weeks I can't be laid up" Criss remarked. "Criss calm down Melissa and the family will take care of Johnny just relax". Criss lays back on the pillows they propped up for him and went downstairs. JD finds Melissa helping Johnny with his coat.
"Where daddy?"he asked. "Daddy's upstairs but Johnny he's not feeling very good right now"JD said. "Why?" he asked. "Daddy hurt his back and the doctor told him that he can't get out of bed for a while" Melissa remarked. "JD where's my fucking muscle relaxer!!!" Criss yelled out. "I'll get that and some soap to wash daddy's mouth out since he said a bad word"JD replied. "Come on Johnny let's go play with the doggies for a while". A few days went by and Johnny wanted to play with his dad. In his room while Melissa was doing laundry Johnny came in to see his father just laying there sleeping. Johnny crawled onto the bed and started jumping on the bed waking Criss up as pain started shooting up and down his back.
"Johnny stop"Criss asked. "Play daddy play" he replied still jumping up on the bed. "Melissa!!" Criss called out but Melissa couldn't hear him. "Play daddy". "JOHNNY STOP JUMPING NOW!!!"Criss yelled at his son. Johnny stopped and ran out of the room in tears. Melissa came back from the laundry to hear Johnny's door slam so she went up to Criss's room to see Criss tearing up. "You all right do you need your muscle relaxer?".
"No I just had to yell at Johnny but I didn't mean to he was jumping on the bed while my back was screaming in pain" wiping the tears away. "I'll go check on Johnny OK you just relax". She knocks on Johnny's door. "Go away" he said. "Johnny it's Melissa open up please".
He opened the door and went back to sitting on his bed holding on to his teddy as tears fell down his face. "Sweetie you OK?". "Why daddy yell at me I do nothing wrong" he asked. "It's just daddy's in pain and you jumping on the bed wasn't helping daddy's pain". Melissa gave Johnny a hug and wiped his tears away. "You know what why don't we go to the store and get some stuff for lunch. We'll bring it outside and maybe we'll bring daddy down to enjoy the day".
Johnny lite up. "Now you go wash your face and I'll go see how your daddy is OK". Johnny got up as Melissa went upstairs to check on Criss. She came upstairs to see Criss watching television while Teddy was in his lap. "Is Johnny OK?" he inquired. "Yea I'm going to take him out to do some shopping for lunch maybe you can try sitting outside in one of the chairs to get some fresh air".
"OK" he said with a smile. At the market Johnny is helping Melissa very much as they go past the bakery Johnny points out his daddy's favorite dessert a double chocolate cupcake with sprinkles. "Get one for daddy?" he asked. "How about three for all of us for dessert".
Johnny nodded with delight. "Three double chocolate cupcakes to go please ". When they get back JD is there. "JD what are you doing here is Criss Ok?". "I came to see how he was and told me what happened between him and Johnny". "Well that's water under the bridge right now we're going to make lunch do you mind helping Criss down I think he needs some fresh air". "All right" and went upstairs.
"Johnny why don't you go outside and make sure there's no dog toys around so daddy doesn't hurt his back more" you suggested. Johnny gives her a thumbs up and goes outside as Criss comes down slowly with help from JD.
"I feel like a need a walker" Criss stated. "I can get you one I think Lynn may have one from when her father visited last"JD replied. Melissa tries not to laugh. "Very funny JD where's Johnny don't tell me he's hiding" Criss asked. "No he's outside picking up any dog toys that could make your back problem worse". "Good idea Melissa" JD said. "Johnny please come in" she calls out.
Johnny comes in and salutes her telling her chore done. "Now hold the door for daddy and Uncle JD". He opens the door and JD helps Criss out the door. "Thanks buddy". "U welcome" he remarked. After that Melissa give Johnny a cold compress for Criss's back. "Now give this to uncle JD for daddy's back". "Cold"Johnny stated holding it. "I know it helps daddy's back get better now go before it turns to water". After Criss sit down slowly Johnny gives the compress to JD. "For daddy back cold". "Thanks buddy".
He puts it on Criss's bare back. "Wow where did you get that the artic" Criss inquired as Johnny chuckled. Melissa comes out and asks JD if he would like to stay for lunch. "I'd love to but I have a lunch date with my wife call me if you need help with this old man here" as Johnny chuckles. "Let's not talk I'm the youngest of the family" Criss stated.
After JD left Johnny goes back inside to help Melissa bring out lunch. "Here bring this out first to your father". Johnny brings out some nice fresh fruit and a bottle of water. "Thanks and my favorites: Mangoes, Strawberries, Raspberries, and Kiwis". "Something nice to eat before lunch" Melissa said as she and Johnny came out to join Criss. Melissa helped Johnny into his booster seat and they eat the fruit. "Yummy"Johnny said. "Yes especially the Kiwi" Criss replied. "Fuzzy like daddy's face" Johnny remarked. "Yea maybe after lunch I'll shave before I start growing a beard again" Criss joked.
After everyone finished their fruits Johnny and Melissa went back inside and brought out sandwiches. "Here you go Criss nice grilled turkey sandwich with Swiss cheese, Johnny non grilled turkey with little mayo and American cheese, and me grilled ham with Swiss cheese" passing them out. After everyone finished Melissa asked if Criss would like dessert. "I'd love it" he replied with a smile. "Me get it"Johnny asked. "Remember where I put it".
He nodded and went inside to get it. "Before he comes back thanks for this lunch it's wonderful" Criss remarked. "Dessert" Johnny said bringing out the box. He gave the box to Melissa and got into his chair. "Now this is Johnny's idea he saw them and thought of you Criss". She opened the box to reveal the cupcakes. "And my favorite thanks Johnny" giving him a kiss.
Melissa passed out the cupcakes and everyone enjoyed it. After lunch Melissa asked Criss if he wanted to go upstairs. "Exactually I'm comfortable here and it feels good to feel the sun on my face" he said. "Johnny why don't you stay out here with your daddy and I'll clean up". "Johnny come here for a minute daddy wants to talk to you".
Melissa watched as Johnny walked over to his father nervously. "Look I'm sorry for yelling at you this morning I was in pain and I let it out on you which I shouldn't of". "Me sorry for not listening too" he added. Criss smiled at his son. "Why don't you grab one of the dog's balls and we'll throw it at them"Criss suggested. Johnny grabbed two balls and brought over a chair his size. Melissa smiled as father and son played together.
