Chapter Forty

Julianna's POV:

I woke up & saw my baby girl cuddled up next to me. They didn't want me to go to sleep so I asked them to bring Sophia in so she'll keep me up & she did. She talked my head off.

"Mommy?", Sophia said, breaking me from my thoughts.

"Yes?", I said, looking down at her.

"When can we go home? I miss my teddy bear.", she said rubbing her eyes.

"I don't know but pretty soon.", I said kissing her forehead.

"Knock, knock.", the doctor said walking in the room.

"Hey.", I said sitting up.

"How ya' feeling?", she asked.

"A little better but sore.", I said.

"We'll that's good. How does your arm feel sweetie?", the doctor asked Sophia.

"Better.", Sophia said showing us her little pink cast.

"That's wonderful. We'll you both are able to go home. Here are both of your prescriptions for pain medicine. I'll be back with your release papers.", the doctor said before turning to walk out the door.

"Wait! Shouldn't I call someone to pick me up?", I asked stopping her.

"We'll there is a young man outside in the waiting room. He's been here all night. When I asked who he was he said he was your ex & that he'll take you home.", the doctor said. I realized she was talking about Jacob.

"Okay. Thank you very much.", I smiled. She nodded her head before walking out the door.

I heard two knocks on the door.

"Come in.", I said combing Sophia's hair.

The door opened & I saw Jacob. His eyes were swollen & red. He looked so sad & broken.

"Hey.", he said in a groggy, tiring voice.

"Hey. We're almost finished. Did you stay here all night?", I asked, putting Sophia's hair in a ponytail.

"Yeah. It's the least I could do since I wasn't here yesterday.", he said.

I finished Sophia's hair & kissed her cheek.

"You look beautiful, Princess.", he said nervously.

"Thank you, Daddy.", she said hugging his legs. He picked her up & she gave him a hug & kiss. He had a huge smile in his face. I'm pretty sure that made his day. She must knew that he was sad.

"You ready?", he asked me.

"Yeah.", I said trying to stand up but I fell back down on the bed. My legs hurt more than anything because that's where I had surgery to remove the glass.

"You need help?", he asked putting Sophia down.

"Yeah.", I said quietly.

"I'll tell them to bring the wheelchair.", Jacob said walking out the door.

"Do you want to rest upstairs?", Jacob asked me.

"Yes please.", I said. He nodded his head & opened the door to help Sophia out. Then came to the passenger. He picked me up carefully, & carried me bridal style into the house with Sophia walking next to us.

He sat me on the bed softly before walking speaking.

"Do you need anything? Food? Water?", he asked.

"Um no. I think I just need a nap then I'll eat & take my medicine.", I said playing with my fingers.

"Alright. Well I'll be downstairs if you need me.", he said looking down before walking out the door.

Jacob's POV:

I was watching the game when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around & saw Sophia looking at me.

"Yes?", I said looking at her.

"I'm hungry.", she said.

"You wanna help me make dinner?", I asked.

She looked down & shook her head no.

"Why not? You always help.", I said concerned.

"I can't. My arm is broken.", she said sadly.

I sighed & pulled her on my lap. She hid her face in my chest & cried.

"Sophia. Look at me.", I said rubbing her back.

She looked at me with tears running down her cheeks & pouted.

"You can do whatever you want if you put your mind to it. I know you can do it. Never say never. & I'm sorry for not being there yesterday. Can you forgive me?", I asked, looking at her.

"Yes.", she smiled.

"Thank you thank you thank you!", I said kissing her all over her face making her giggle which made me laugh.

"D-d-daddy s-s-stop. It t-tickles.", she said in between laughs.

"Come on. Let's go make dinner.", I said picking her up.

I walked in the room with her food on a tray & saw Julianna awake watching TV.

"Hey. When did you wake up?", I asked sitting the tray on her lap.

"I've been up for awhile. Sophia's laugh woke me up.", she smiled a little.

"Sorry about that.", I apologized.

"It's okay. Where's Sophia?", she asked.

"I just fed her & gave her the pain medicine because her arm is hurting her.", I told her.

"Oh.", she said disappointed.

"Do you want me to bring her in here?", I asked. She nodded her head really fast.

"Yes please. After I eat & take my medicine.", she said.

After Julianna finished eating & taking her medicine, I put her tray away & headed back upstairs to get Sophia.

I walked in Sophia's room & saw her cuddled up to her teddy bear. I picked her & her teddy bear up & went to our room.

I saw Julianna sleeping so I laid Sophia next to Julie. I kissed both of their foreheads then got up to leave but a felt a small hand stop me. I turned around & saw it was Julianna's hand.

"Where are you going?", Julie asked sitting up.

"To the guest room.", I said.

"Stay. Sleep here.", she said.

"I'm okay sleeping down the hall.", I said standing up.

"Please.", she said.

"Julianna, what do you want exactly? We aren't together but yet you want me to sleep in the same bed with you.", I said rubbing my face with my hand.

"I just don't want to be alone again. Can we talk about it tomorrow?", she asked. I sighed & nodded my head.

I put Sophia's little body on the right side of my chest. Yes, she is that small. I pulled Julie closer to me by her waist & watched as she put her head on the left side of my chest & tangled her legs with mine.

Man, she's confusing me!
