Jacob's POV:

Today Sophia & I are going to the doctor's to get her cast off & to get ice cream. I don't know what Julie is doing until we get back. She never said anything.

"Daddy! Your phone is ringing!", Sophia yelled from upstairs.

"Answer it for me, baby girl!", I yelled back.

She came downstairs with the phone to her ear & talking to who ever was on the phone.

"Who are you talking to?", I asked.

"Nana.", she said & continued to talk on the phone.

I shook my head & watched as she sat next to me.

"& then we're going to get ice cream.", she said.

"Sophia, let me talk.", I said reaching for the phone.

"But I wanna talk to Nana.", she whined.

"Sophia, you've talk to her long enough. You can call her back later.", I said.

"Okay. Bye Nana. Daddy, wants to talk to you.", Sophia said into the phone before handing it to me.

"Hey Mama.", I said.

"Why did you take the phone from her? I wanted to speak to my grandbaby.", she snapped.

"It's nice to speak to you too", I said sarcastically.

"Don't be such a drama queen, Jacob. I just miss her. I haven't seen her in a while.", she said.

"Well, you should come down more.", I said.

"I know but we're so busy, Jake. You know how that is. We will be down there this weekend, I promise.", she said but I just rolled my eyes which caused Sophia to giggle.

I know my parents like the back of my hand. They'll plan & say they'll do something but change their mind last minute. They always got my hopes up high only for me to be let down.

"Just don't make any promises you can't keep & do her like you did me.", I said.

"What is that supposed to mean?", she asked, raising her voice a little.

I walked outside so Sophia wouldn't hear us.

"I mean don't get her hopes high, making her think that your coming down then change your mind last minute & let her down. She doesn't deserve to be treated like that.", I said.

"You think I enjoyed doing that you?! We're busy. We have 6 figure jobs & we worked had you could have the best!", she yelled.

"I know that & that's why I admire you guys but I'm just saying I don't my child to hurt like I did!", I argued back.

"I don't have to listen to you tell me about my parenting skills & I'm definitely not going to sit here & argue with you. Goodbye, Jacob.", she said.

"Ma-", I said but she hung up on me.

I walked back into the house & saw Julianna laying her head on Sophia's lap while Sophia played in her hair.

"What's wrong, babe?", I asked sitting next to them.

"Mommy's head hurts.", Sophia whispered to me as she continued to run her small hands through Julianna's hair.

"You okay, baby? You want something to take for it?", I asked, drawing shapes on her back.

"Please?", she asked, opening her eyes. They were red & she had bags under them.
