They talked things through and according to her, it was a mutual decision to let each other go.
"Mamimiss ka namin" I said hugging her so tight, she's closest to me, I mean she's not just my sister but also my best friend, Dan's also close to me but she's too young for me to actually confide everything, and Ate P's a bit aloof, siguro kasi malaki rin ang age gap n'ya sa aming tatlo ni Ali. But nevertheless, I love my sisters equally.
"One year lang naman, it'll go by so fast that we won't actually feel that we're apart that long" She assured us
Boarding na, Dan's started tearing up, oh my God, ayoko mahawa. Mommy hugged both of us, when my phone rang. I excused myself.
"Ate, boarding na, oo, sige I'll tell MOm, okay, ingat ka"
"Was that your ate Piper?" I nodded, "Where the hell is she?" Mom's too serious, that scared the shit out of me.
"Sabi n'ya she on her way sa bahay, doon nalang daw n'ya tayo imi-meet"
"She should be here, it's her sister going abroad for pete's sake!"
Our ride home is so awkwardly silent, nakakatakot magalit ang nanay namin, kaya kami ni Dan tahimik lang, I pretended to be asleep the whole time.
"Piper Gail!" Oh God, if a parent called your REAL NAME, it means you should OBEY or all hell will break lose, Dan and I were both stunned, I have no idea on what's happening, but it feels like ate DID something...uhhh... BAD?
"Mom, please"
"Ali went abroad and you were nowhere to be found, I've been calling you since yesterday, what the hell is going on?"
"May inasikaso lang ako"
"More important than family matters?" Ate just nodded, I saw Mom's eyes twitched, what could possibly be more important than God and Family?
"I met someone's real father"
Para akong nabingi, she met who? Real father? Naka-drugs ba ang kapatid ko? What the hell is she talking about? Dan's equally dumbfounded as I am, what the hell is happening?
"Piper it's not your business to meddle with" Mom said firmly
Nandoon lang kami ni Dan nakatayo sa likod ni Mommy, we tried to digest everything. Nararamdaman kong sa hindi maganda patungo ito, but we needed answers.
"I can't believe you!" Ate said
"Everything's fine, bakit kailangan mong makialam? I thought we're through this?"
"I'm not okay at all!" she beamed, I've never seen Ate in this kind of state, it's devastating.
"Mom, anong nangyayari?" Singit ko
"Nothing. Both of you, go to your rooms"
"No! no one's leaving, not until y'all know the truth!" Pinigilan kami ni ate, and for the first time in my life sinuway ko si Mommy.
"Ate's right, Mom, we need to hear everything"
"Piper, can you just let this go?" Mom pleaded, she's tearing up. Oh my God, I'm still clueless.
"Please, save your sisters, spare them"
"From what?!" Ate and I said in unison
"From pain!"
"Pain? Ano ba talagang nangyayari? Ate, Mommy? You're both scaring me, please"
"Mom, they deserve to know the truth, lalo na si Amethy"
Para akong bangkay na naninigas at nanlalamig, so is this about me? Pero anong kailangan kong malaman?
"Ate ano naguguluhan na ako ano bang kailangan namin malaman? Anong kinalaman ni Ate Amethy dito?" tanong ni Dan
Tinignan lang kami ni Mommy, she's crying, and it broke my heart to see her like this. She ushered us to sit, ate Piper, Dan and I are waiting for her to talk. Feeling ko mas masasaktan ako sa susunod na sasabihin ng nanay namin.
"I've heard everything, Minerva we need to tell them everything, it's time" daddy said in his serious tone.
