he was thankful but he didn't want to show it

taeyong sat on the chair provided while jae sat on the bed. the air was tense and thick making both boys uncomfortable.

"you sure must have a lot of trust. i could kill you here and now and take off before anyone noticed."

jae chuckled. "you aren't like that. you don't need to pretend to be tough." jaehyun was right and taeyong knew it. he felt embarrassed again.

"thanks, i guess, for all of this." taeyong mumbled, not tearing his look from the table. jae looked over at him hoping to meet gazes.

"it's no problem." jae thought about what to say next. he had so many questions but would tae answer them? "can i ask you something?"

"depends."

"what's your name? i only know tae because that's what the doyoung kid called you."

"my name is lee taeyong." with that silence overtook the room again. jae smiled to himself as he mouthed the name over and over. it had such a nice ring to it. it was beautiful, to say the least.

"jae open up!" a voice from outside the door shouted. jae rushed to open the door, thankful the torturous thirty minutes of silence was over. yuta stepped inside carrying what looked like a brand new pair of black skinny jeans and a normal white shirt.

"how did you get these?" taeyong asked as yuta tossed it onto the table. he looked through the clothing items to find brand new undergarments and socks as well. yuta winked and joined jae on the bed.

"don't worry about it. just go shower."

taeyong nodded and entered the bathroom. the lock clicked. once the shower water started yuta took this as the perfect opportunity to talk about him.

"are you going to watch over him?" jae wanted to answer yes but he wasn't all too sure. he knew taeyong didn't want his help but there was something, something jaehyun could sense that was keeping him there.

he wanted to keep taeyong in his life for a reason he didn't know himself. instinct maybe? destiny?

"hopefully." jaehyun reached inside his bag and pulled out an old phone he use to own before he upgraded. "i want him to keep this." he placed the iphone on the bedside table along with a charger.

"for what?"

"if he wants to keep in contact he'll have a way." yuta kept his mouth shut at his reason. it was better to just let jae do whatever he wanted at this point.

taeyong felt cleansed after the shower. the warm water felt great on his tensed muscles as he washed the dirt from his body and hair away.

he dressed in the robe that was hung on the bathroom's towel rack, seeing no point in getting dressed in the new clothes just to sleep in.

he exited the bathroom and jumped in shock. he had almost forgotten yuta and jaehyun were still there. "well don't you look better." yuta clapped.

"whatever. you two can leave now."

jae stood off the bed, yuta followed in pursuit. "i left a phone if you want to ever contact me. my number is the only saved one."

taeyong glanced at the phone before looking back at jae. he knew he wasn't going to use it but he let that thought stay in his mind. "okay."

"wow. you would think after all we did today he would thank us."

"it's okay yuta. let's leave him to himself." before the door shut behind them, jae peeked his head in and motioned towards the table where a menu sat. that wasn't there earlier. "order dinner and breakfast. it's already paid for."

tae got one last look at the handsome boy while jae shut the door. he flopped down on the bed, nearly moaning at the comfortable mattress under him. "hmph. that jaehyun kid sure is something else."

he snatched the phone off the bedside table and unlocked it. it was wiped clean except for the one contact.

taeyong clicked on it. he didn't realize he was smiling at jaehyun's contact picture until he caught a glimpse of himself through the screen.

his lips formed a straight line as he locked the phone

his lips formed a straight line as he locked the phone. "taeyong, don't get used to this. it's only for tonight."

that was his sad truth. every good thing usually only lasted a night in his shit life.
