Lilith Styles wanted something of her own. She wasn't coordinated enough to do sports. She was always tripping on her feet but she didn't care. She thought that was her quirky trait. She was in Art class drawing a person. The teacher looked impressed and just like that, the teacher placed down an book about costume designing.
"What is this" Lilith asked her teacher. The teacher just smiled. "Lilith you are amazing at drawing and the school can use someone who can design costume" The teacher told Lilith and Lilith looked at the teacher.
"I've never use a sewing machine" Lilith confessed to the teacher. The teacher smiled at her.
"Stay after class, I think you could be really great at this" Mrs. Grant patted Lilith on her shoulder before walking away to her desk. Lilith had a big smile on her face because the teacher didn't bring up her brothers. It was all about her. The class was after and Mrs. Grant showed Lilith how to operate a sewing machine and just like that Lilith Styles picked it up just like that.
"The musical is in 3 months and we doing a modern take on the Hairspray" Mrs. Grant announced to me and I nodded my head.
"How about you sketch some design and then come in with the designs Monday" Mrs. Grant smiled and Lilith and Lilith grabbed her bag along with her sketchbook.
When Lilith went home, she went into her room quickly and started drawing sketches and design, she was excited to do something with her life. She heard a knock and Chris walked in with smile. He looked down at Lilith's sketchpad.
"Wow, that's amazing" Chris told his sister.
"Thanks, do we have a sewing machine here" Lilith asked her brother and Chris nodded.
"My mom left her here" Chris quickly got the machine and placed it on the desk. Lilith smiled at Chris. "Thanks" Lilith told Chris
"by the way in the basement, there are fabric" Chris mentioned to Lilith before rubbing her head and Lilith glared at her brother.
"I got to go. I have practice" Chris walked out of Lilith's bedroom and she came to the basement and grabbed all the fabric she could. Harry looked at his only daughter with his eyebrow up.
"Hey dad" Lilith greeted her father.
"What's going" Harry asked Lilith.
"Just doing some designing" Lilith shrugged her shoulders.
"Good Luck" Harry said while sipping on his coffee. She placed the fabric on her bed and just like that. In three days, she had come up with modern outfits for the musical hairspray.
With Chris's help, they entered the art room, where Mrs. Grant was sitting at her desk.
"Hey Mrs. Grant" Lilith placed the mannequin in the room and Mrs. Grant eyes went wide.
"I couldn't help myself" Lilith shrugged my shoulders.
"Lilith this is absolutely amazing" Mrs. Grant hugged Lilith tight.
"You out did yourself and the fact you did it this weekend" Mrs. Grant beamed with a huge smile on her face.
That is how Lilith Styles found her calling. That faithful day in eight grade in an art room with a teacher that would continue to influence her up until Mrs. Grant died, she died from a car crash. She was only twenty-five.
