Mostly I lazed around Dad's house this morning. At some point I went over to Neil's to print off the excerpt of journal entries to take to Grandma's later on.
I walked across to Kari's house to asked whether she knew if Grandma was home. She was working on a scrapbook for Lara when I got there. She told me that Grandma wouldn't be driving anywhere in these snowy conditions, so yes; she'd be home all day. I showed Kari a picture of my finished desk. She asked me whether it was still a standing desk. It wasn't, I originally built it a bit too low to be a standing desk and a bit too high to be a sitting desk, so we had to lower it to a sitting desk to avoid the debilitation compromise. Kari she'd that maybe one day she and Grandma would pitch in together and get me an electronically adjustable desk. I laughed appreciatively and told her I think those are quite expensive. Secretly though, I'd love to have one.
My visit with Grandma went very well I thought, I was able to speak to her without much in the way of polite pretense. There is something wonderfully disarming about starting a conversation by handing someone 11 pages worth of your personal thoughts. She didn't read it while I was there; she offered too, she offered to read it and give it back to me, but there really wasn't anything I was concerned about in those first bunch of entries.
I paid my rent for the apartment today. It was about $700. Ugg. Well it emptied out my bank account and caused my amazon order for microphone equipment to be declined. So I drove to town under the guise of saying bye to Bert before leaving tomorrow and I went and deposited the cash that Grandma gave me for Christmas. There was about $85 left of it, which brought my total high enough to cover the $88 for the mic equipment.
So yeah, I'm heading back to college tomorrow and I really need to get a job. Spending money on buying equipment is the easy part, now I need to use it to create something. I think I'm ready to start producing instead of just constantly consuming. I'm excited.
Dad isn't exactly excited about me deciding to go back to college so early. The decision doesn't make much sense. I really want to stay longer. I'm going to have to make optimal use of my extra time there to justify abandoning home early.
I won't get to see Mary Jane again before leaving, which means that I probably won't see her again until her birthday party in February (if I can't afford to make the 8hr drive both ways) or otherwise in March when Me, Lara, her and her boyfriend go see the Game of Thrones symphony during spring break.
I haven't spoken to Mom or Mary Jane in a while, I need to make an effort to call them both tomorrow.
I traded Neil my Keyboard that has RGB lighting for his Keyboard that doesn't (same model) and his HD webcam. Sure it is going to mess with my black & white color scheme in my room, but I think I'll get some good mileage out of the webcam.
I haven't packed at all, but there really isn't that much to pack.
Shit, I still have Bert's 'space pen' that he left here. I'll try dropping it off at his house in the morning on my way out, his mother might be home.
