Dabbling with new Arts

10AM I got out of bed pretty late again. I knew I wanted to film today, but I didn't know what or how. So I just started without much in the way of a plan. Yesterday I got intimidated by the idea of recording, I feel like so much of the story ends up getting told by the editing process that I just didn't know what to film. Well I decided I'd have to give up on the idea that the first video would be perfect. So I committed to make a mess of a video today. At least it would be a starting point.

12:20PM Filming makes everything take so much longer. Getting out of bed took the longest. I took about 4 takes. I had to close the shower curtain 3 times. Tie my shoes twice and pick up my car keys 3 times. Either I'm going to have to get better or lower my expectations.

1PM I got to the coffee-shop and started editing what I've shot so far.

3:40PM I really should have taken a timelapse of me eating the slice of cake I ordered earlier. So I ordered another. $5.

4:56PM That took way too long. Of Course I've been watching YouTube videos on and off throughout, an I'm not entirely sure how much time was editing and how much consuming.

4:59PM Time to start working on what I came here to do, but first, a potty break.

6:40PM I think I'm done writing for now. I am afraid of adding too many layers to this world. It just went intergalactic. I might have to reign it back. It's really important to me that it echo's reality, so that the reader makes the jump from fiction to reality without really knowing it. Anyway, I'm really liking Dempsey, the perspective character, so far. "The women" has me mildly curious right now, but she's a bit obviously positioned. I desperately need some manner of exposition. I'll read for a bit and then go and try to start toward recovering from the weight that I've gained.

8:07PM I just finished up getting all the backlogged posts up on WattPad. I'm pretty relieved that is done. Now I can just post directly to WattPad throughout the day instead of transferring every post over from my Drive account. Alright, I think it's time to head home and finish todays video. I should also probably catch up with Maya, I wonder if she made a new journal entry. I hope she has some more feedback.

8:20PM It really was about time that I tidied the kitchen. I wanted some company while doing the dishes, and I figured it might be a good time to talk to Maya again. So when I got home, I Skyped her, but didn't get any answer. I didn't particularly feel like calling someone I know. I could pretty well predict what a conversation with any of my close friends would be like. Omegle on the other hand was held the promise of mystery!

8:35PM I set my laptop on the raised countertop behind and above the sink and started wading my way through the creepers as best I could. After a few minutes I came across someone who looked to be around high-school aged. The first thing I heard him say was "Are you a cooking show?" Then we ended up talking about the differences between America and Australia, interestingly (according to Sean from Sydney):

A foreigner saying "Let's put some shrimp on the barby" causes said Australian to immediately categorize the offending foreigner as "trash".

Australians don't vote for their president, or whatever they call their governing person.

Kangaroos are to Australians as "rats" or "squirrels" are to Americans, with the exception that they don't take shit from nobody and could knock you on your ass.

Australians train their "Australian Shepherds", which look more like sheep dogs than german shepherds, to kill Kangaroos as a form of pest control

10:PM I saw that Maya had messaged me on Skype that she was out at yoga class, so I called her again. Maya said she hadn't made a new journal entry yet because she was having trouble with a quill that she wants to use to make the new entry. Then she pointed out some gramatical problems with my second entry, and I told her "yeah, but I don't want to make any changes" and explained that I like being able to look back at my mistakes.

And that was it, that was my whole day.

Thanks for sticking around. See you tomorrow.
