"It seems though that she is suffering from short term memory loss."

"Wh-what?! Short term memory loss?!..." asked Seulong hyung.

"That's right." said the doctor.

"But how did she get it?" I asked.

"Well, a person can get it due to several reasons. In her case, she must've gotten it from the shock of being shot like that."

"It can also be caused by head injury, right?" I asked.

"Yes. But why do you?..."

"Yesterday, the moment I turned around after she was shot, she was about to collapse so I caught her before she did but, her head hit the ground as soon as I got down."

"Then that may have caused her condition right now."

"Is she still going to recover soon? I mean, her memories?" Seulong hyung asked.

"For now it's hard to say but this is just short term memory loss. Cases like this tend to have the patient recovering soon. It will depend on how the people around her will help in recovering her memories. How much does she remember?"

Seulong hyung and I looked at each other.

"When you came earlier to our room, you saw she was crying, right?" said Seulong hyung.

"That's right and may I ask why?"

"Before you came, she asked where our parents were."

"And where are they?"

"They died last year in a car accident."

Last year, so 2016... and what year does she think it still is?"

"2015."

"Ah... I see now. So it's just you and her then? No other relatives?"

"Yes doctor. We moved here to Seoul from Gangwon province after our parents died. She doesn't remember any of her new friends from her school here but for those she's known for since she was young, she can still remember them."

"Events from 2015 downwards, can she remember them?"

"Yes."

"Hmmm... this is a usual case for patients like her. They can remember people, events from the past but memories from like last year or even yesterday, it gets lost, temporarily but in some cases, permanently. Wait, and who are you? What is your relationsip with the patient?" the doctor asked me.

Seulong hyung laughed a little. "What's so funny?" asked the doctor.

"Ha? Oh! So you're her boyfriend then?"

"Yes sir."

"Then I honestly and positively think we can get back her memories sooner than we think."

"EH?!"

"But how?!" I asked.

"How long have the two of you been in a relationship?"

"For one year already."

"Then it's not too late yet. You see, I know cases like this between married couples. When the wife managed to let her husband go through all the things they've been through especially all the sweet moments they shared, his memories started coming back little by little until he finally remembered her and everything that had happened right before he became forgetful."

"Have her go everything she's been through... Hmmm..."

"And, may I just add she's lucky." said the doctor.
