Tris' POV
Fear was all I could possibly feel at the moment. Eric was here finally. Peter and Christina had departed so easily within our midst, but I hadn't wanted it to come down to this moment where Tobias and I had to leave each other's side. I needed to stay with him and I needed to make sure he was okay at all times through this horrible living nightmare. But we didn't have a choice anymore.
With one last look at him, the boy who was giving me this desperate look, I finally forced myself to start running. I ran and took off along uneven dirt terrain. I ran until my eyes were beginning to sting.
Mist and trees were all that I saw within the darkened night as I ran, never looking back.
I had to do this like everyone else. I had to find a generator and help each one of us to get out of this place.
I was running until finally I came to the abandoned building-like tower that stood alone amongst random old farming-machinery and large dead trees.
This surely was not the safest place to be at probably for starters, seeming it was like one of the only landmarks within this fenced-in darkened forestry. But I didn't really care at the moment. My mind was still focused too much on Tobias, whom I had just ran off from.
Keep it together Tris. He'll be fine. And so will Christina... I tell myself absent-mindedly as I slowly began making my way into the building from a busted side-door. The tower-like structure was made of brick and metal and once I began treading inside of it, my footprints were noticeably loud.
There must be an echo I guess...
I try to calm myself down by slowing my footing so that I don't make as much noise, but I cannot.
In the center of the room was nothing but machinery, and then to the right of the machines was a doorway that seemed to lead downstairs somewhere.
Better not trap myself in here, I tell myself keenly.
I walk slowly around the machine, glancing over my shoulder from time to time to see if Eric had followed me or if he might be nearby...
But I heard nothing.
Perhaps he chose to take off after Tobias??
This thought struck me rather harshly. What if Tobias was in trouble?
Oh, there just had to be a way for me to find him again somehow...
Hmm.. what would Peter honestly do in a situation like this?
Well for one, he wouldn't be caring about anybody but himself...
Suddenly though a scuffling noise interrupts my thoughts and brings me back to reality and the situation I was already in.
E-Eric?
Footsteps sounded at the other end of the building now and I quickly began to panic. Perhaps Eric really did follow me?
I hurriedly get into a crouching stance and begin slowly backing up out of the doorway that I came through, but I before I could completely make it out of the building, I finally spotted who the source of the other footsteps belonged to.
My heart leaps a bit with hope as I suddenly recognize Peter, his figure looking already dirtier than the last time I had just seen him.
His eyes were searching for something and I could tell that he didn't know of my presence being here.
I finally yet slowly arise from my crouch and begin making my way towards him. "P-Peter?" I whisper, which instantly causes the boy to jump a bit. He jerks his head around to me before just giving me a small look. "Tris? What on earth are you doing?" He snaps, a slight irritable tone coming off in his voice.
