Tobias' POV
"Come on Four, get up! Now!" A ruggedly loud voice suddenly bestows itself onto my traumatized self. I shake my head violently in haste to regain consciousness before I then turn to see Peter facing Eric head-on with nothing but a mere flashlight held firmly within one of his hands.
All time had seemed to come to a standstill for these few moments.
Eric now hurriedly shields his eyes and gives a small grunt at the flashlight's beaming ray and it is then that I snap my attention back onto Tris out of frantic rapidity for this sparing instant.
We have to go!
I leap over to Tris' side, my foot ailing me with so much pain that I have to stifle a groan, but I continue to ignore my devastation anyhow. My girl coughs as I press my forehead to hers for a lightning second before I then grab her by the arms and yank her to her feet, her eyes fluttering lightly from so much fatigue being put on her body.
I then jerk ourselves in the direction of the stares, my heart, feet, and mind all flying at the same time.
Peter had come. He had come to help save us from Eric, and we only had a limited amount of time to run and escape this horrid place of fate and death. He was giving us one final chance to survive.
Behind me now, I start to hear Peter's voice again, it's tone crisp with fear and splutter. "G-Go, go! This flashlight doesn't have much power left!" He shouts in alarm and I immediately thrust my body to run faster.
I drag myself, as well as Tris' injured figure out of the staircase to the basement and then dash for the nearest exit of the tower.
I burst out into the deathly-still night air next, my lungs cramping and my chest heaving, which then causes for some nearby crows to go cawing off in alarm and head for the dark sky.
I look around wildly now before I then begin to dart for the nearest shelter of trees up ahead, my legs burning out of so much force and strain on them; but suddenly Tris gives a loud groan from behind me and I jerk my head around at her before she then finally just collapses into the grass. Her hand was still in mine but her body was no longer in an upright position to continue our running.
I frantically dive to her side now, my mind whirling on what I was going to do for her.
She can't go on like this. I can't keep forcing her to run.
What could I have possibly expected from her anyhow? She had just been hooked by Eric himself? And all I had been doing for her was yanking on her in hopes of us escaping again.
S-She needs to rest... but there's no time. I tell myself now, my eyes darting over every square inch of her poor body.
"T-Tris." I try speak but my voice is shaking for some reason.
"Tris. I need you to get up." I then try again, but she only gives me a pitiful sob in response and I can't help but then feel a stabbing sensation within my chest for her. I hated to see her this way.
Suddenly though there comes the sound of rapid footsteps upon gravel from behind me. I tense and swallow hard before jerking my head around to glimpse the thin form of Peter next. I watch as he bursts out of the tower before he then just heads off into a random direction within the misty grounds.
It is then that I spot Eric again; the brutal and monstrous man striding on out of the building in raging pursuit of Peter.
I instantly duck down next to Tris' body within the tall, long grasses in desperate hopes that he doesn't spot us; and luckily he doesn't. He just struts on after Peter, his hand once again holding his sledgehammer and his face looking taut and pissed.
Once he is finally gone, I slowly then sit up and gaze down at Tris again, my adrenaline still pumping through me and my head still spinning from the events that just recently took place before me.
Not I nor Tris would probably be here right now if it weren't for Peter.
He had saved us... In such a last-minute rescue but hey, it was far better than him just not even coming at all.
Christina was right.. I then tell myself. He isn't just saving his own skin for once...
My eyes now skirt back down onto Tris and her state of being. I notice that her body is slightly quivering and that her breathing is soft but also heavy. She was a masterpiece beyond belief.. and yet I had let her get destroyed.
How could I have let this happen...
I continue watching her silently before I then just reach for her hand lying flatly on the ground and I squeeze it. I catch her attempt to give me a smile right afterwards and I smile back.
We were alive.... Somehow.
"T-T... T-Tobias." She then suddenly wheezes and I my eyes are all for her. "I-I'm sorry.... Okay?" She then mumbles, her eyes looking as if they were already beginning to tear up and I frown at her.
"Don't be sorry, Tris. I had asked for so much of you. I had forgotten that you still felt things. You're still human, and we all feel things and get hurt." I explain to her in a recollective manner and she exhales.
"H-How is your foot?" She then slowly asks, and my eyes immediately snap down onto my bleeding, wounded base.
The wound looked gruesome and nothing but black and dark red blood covered it along with horrible gashes from where the trap's teeth had impaled me at. It smelled raunchy and dank as well.
Not good.
"W-Well let's not worry over me for now." I then murmur stubbornly back towards the hurting girl before me and she furrows her eyebrows in response.
Suddenly though there are more sounding footsteps within the area and I am immediately on my feet and poised for an attack.
But it is then that I recognize Christina. She was once again making her way over towards us, and her eyes looked petrified at our appearances.
"O-Oh my gosh! You two are alive!" She instantly explodes once she nears us and she skids to a halt and dives to the ground for Tris' eye-level.
"Oh no, are you hurt?" She then adds, her eyes jumping to me and then back onto Tris and I pivot a bit from where I now stood. "Yeah. We uh... somehow managed to escape Eric.." I start with a confused look at her.
"But we would have never survived.. without P-Peter..." Tris then suddenly inputs her voice and Christina instantly looks back up to meet my gaze, her eyes wide with shock at this.
All I can do is nod in agreement though.
Yes. Peter had saved us.
But would we even last?
