Tobias' POV
It is what I have been dreading all along. My worst fear. My worst nightmare. I am too stunned to hardly see straight.
Eric stares me down from where he stands, and his hands are all up on my girl, his eyes gleaming with no regret and a simple desire to simply injure.
My Tris looks shattered and her body seemed limp within Eric's arms. Her figure was covered with bruises and her eyes were dull and lifeless practically.
I am enraged.
D***!
I had been too late. Even with my Dark Sense perk, I hadn't been able to protect Tris from this ravenous monster. I had failed.
I had known this would happen from the start.
"Well, well, well. Nice of you to join us, Four. It's about time." Eric finally scoffs now and my veins are coursing with mad hatred.
I watch as Tris feebly tries to wiggle free from Eric's grasp next but the man just holds her in place, one of his hands still around her waist. My beautiful Tris. My Tris' waist. The waist that was meant for me to be touching and holding.
It was jacking me up.
"Step away from her." I demand now, my mind trying to imagine what awful things had already taken place here and I can no longer control myself. "You rotten son of a b****! You bas****!" I grind my teeth at last and charge forward. I was finished with this.
Eric simply thrusts Tris to the ground next before readying a defensive stance. I launch myself at him and shove one of my seething fists into his jaw instantly, which causes for him to give a gruesome grunt. He then lands a punch back at me but I hardly feel it with all of my rushing adrenaline.
I continue throwing attacks towards his head, his torso, anything that would be ailing to him until finally though Eric gives a finishing look at me before he then delivers a powerful kick with one of his legs upon my groin.
I falter and I am somehow suddenly on the ground, my head whirling and my mind racing. My anger is still licking at me madly though and I curl my fists up from within the dirt that was under me.
"T-Tobias!" I suddenly hear Tris cough from her spectating position next. My eyes glance to hers and I now notice how I am on the ground and looking pathetic.
How could Eric have already gotten me to the ground? It was too insane and rather impossible for him to have already overpowered me? I was too much of a good, strong fighter to be like this.
But then I quickly recall something that Peter had told me a while back. He too had tried to fight Eric once, and even with his Dauntless initiation and his claiming of rank one within the class, he was oddly no match for Eric's being.
P-Perhaps what Peter said is true? What if Eric really is undefeatable?
An unsettling silence falls.
Eric now stands over me with an unsurprised look and I am still furious. There was simply no room for any fear or remorse to squeeze into my emotions just yet. I was too heated with what he had done to Tris.
I watch as he eyes me direly now and he ripples his shoulders in front of me, as if claiming the floor. "You know Four..." He begins speaking and his voice is dangerously low. "I think it's actually going to be easy for me to get rid of you this time." He finally snickers rather boastfully and I just glare at him. There had to be some way to defeat him... There was always a way.
