Tris' POV
I had solemnly watched as Tobias and Peter had headed off into the direction of the last generator that we needed in order for us to escape this place. To think, we were just about to get out of this wretched and dark landscape filled with nothing but trees, machinery and abandoned shafts and slab walls.
Nothing seemed truly real within this place, but from the pain that I had already endured, and the feelings that I had strongly felt from all on this one night; I knew for sure that this was happening and that it was all real.
I glance down at Christina now. My friend has been through so much ever since we entered the inside of this fenced in area. I wonder what it would be like to return to our normal lives back at the city with everyone else...
"So... How do are you feeling, Christina?" I can't help but ask next, my eyes going to her wounded foot which seemed to be getting fouler by the minute.
"W-Well... it's okay for now." She replies rather softly in a hushed tone and I just nod before then turning my attention towards something else.
I glance in the direction of which Peter told me the lever would be at now. I wanted to make sure I knew where it was, so that I could activate it on que.
"So um, do you know what this lever looks like exactly?" I try and think of something to talk about while we waited for the boys to return from their rather risky task.
"I-I'm not too sure. But perhaps you should go look along the wall, where Peter said it would be?" Christina then suggests in an obvious manner and I just chuckle slightly. "Well that would help." I agree rather coyly and I hear Christina try a laugh.
It makes me smile to hear this.
I now head for the giant wall which would hold the lever I needed to pull in order to open the doors to freedom from this place.
...But wouldn't Eric just follow us out? This thought suddenly strikes at me.
Peter had said Eric was tracking him with his cawing crows at first... So does that mean that we might gain some birds as well once we make it out?
Isn't this just 'one round' afterall?
These new thoughts quickly began to worry me now. Was this endless? Would we always be on the run from Eric? When would he just give up? Will we even have a moment of rest?
My head is swirling with unsettling thoughts when suddenly I come upon two large metal doors which poise themselves along the looming wall.
The doors!
My heart skips a beat just at their marvelous sight and for a moment I just stare at them.
But where was the lever I needed to pull?
My eyes now run along the sides of the door, searching for anything that could look like a lever of some sort. I then finally spot an old-looking metal bar hanging off from the side of the large brick wall just to the left.
That must be the lever because there was nothing else that would even come close to resembling a lever like that....
"C-Christina!" I now turn and whisper-loudly. "I think I found it."
I hear Christina give a small grunt in reply as she shifts to a better position behind me.
I then walk slowly to the lever and notice how it is ejected upwards towards the sky.
I guess I'll have to be ready to yank it downwards.
But what if it gets stuck? What if I'm too slow at pulling it?
