Tris' POV

We are walking now.

Tobias is at my side and he has me practically leaning all of my weight on him, even though I was actually quite capable of walking by myself..

He had insisted though.

Beside me, Christina walks sluggishly alongside Peter's help. The four of us were simply walking; away from that horrid place, away from all of those outstretched hooks, and away from that monstrous figure whom Tobias had hit and left within the grass.

He wouldn't stay there though.

I look to Tobias beside me, his eyes intense and his face holding many marks and bruises from his brawl with Eric. He looked tired, but also strong. He looked amazing and handsome. He was mine. And I was his.

"Tobias?" I now open my mouth and he turns to look at me. Our feet were in sync at each step.

"Yes?" His voice is deep, like it is always is.

I didn't really know what to say. I had nothing to say. I was still too shocked on everything that had just happened within the last thirty minutes or so...

Finally I just lean my head against him. "Thank you. Again." I murmur, and he hugs an arm around me, his affection causing for me to feel my own flare of affection back towards him.

"Anything for you, Tris. You know that." He then states firmly and I can't help but find myself smiling at his words somehow...

Suddenly though there comes an exasperated sigh from Christina nearby and I turn my head to catch a glimpse of how she was doing. She was limping badly, but thanks to Peter, she could manage at a decent pace.

"So... I guess Eric is going to get up soon?" She now huffs and everyone falls silent at this.

"A-And how are we ever going to recover from these.. injuries, fast enough?" She adds with a wavering look towards me next and I can't help but shiver a bit out of a direful feeling.

She had a point.

What if we weren't able to recover in time to gain our strength and speed back against Eric?

"No, no, there's no need to worry about recovery.." Peter then suddenly states and Tobias' gaze flick onto the boy with a questionable look.

"Why not?" He barks and I catch Peter almost smiling.

"Well once we make it to the next gate, there will be these medications." He starts and I can't help but exhale out of annoyance somehow.

Here we go again with all these strange facts of his...

"Medications? What?" Christina snaps as if he were crazy.

"Yeah, yeah. There's these pills you can get before the beginning of each round. Just eat the pill and your wounds will be healed instantly." He explains and I feel Tobias quiver with slight anger around me.

"Is this some practical joke, Peter? A pill? That can heal instantly?" He scoffs and Peter just flashes a scowl at the two of us.

"You don't believe me? Yet you've believed and witnessed all the other crazy stuff I've told you about tonight? Really?" He retorts rather validly and I just exchange a look with Tobias.

"Okay, so whether or not this is true, is there enough pills for each of us?" I now ask and Peter nods. "Yep. One for each survivor who survived each passing round. They're small pills and they work like legit magic somehow. I know it sounds ridiculous, and it.. well, kind of is ridiculous, but trust me. They're real." He confirms with another brisk nod and somehow I am relieved.

I do believe him.

I believe everything that Peter says now.

He seems to have changed. He helped us all through that horrible 'round' with Eric and he didn't abandon us like I truly thought he would.

He was beginning to act more like a leader actually.

Suddenly though a familiar noise begins to sound within the distance and I am stricken slightly with comprehensiveness.

Cawing sounds.

"Oh great." I hear Christina mutter and no sooner that she does, a whole flock of crows overhead begins to make their way towards us from the sky, their wings flapping in practical unison and their cawing blaring loudly.

"The crows. You see? Now we'll all have them swirling above us overhead." Peter remarks matter-of-factly as, just like he said, the birds begin to circle above us, cawing loudly.

It was a sign that Eric had probably already awoken from his unconsciousness.

...Oh no.

"Come on! We need to hurry!" Tobias now prompts as he tightens his grip around me, his eyes beginning to turn wild and his jaw setting hard.

"I-Is Eric up? Is he tracking us already?" Christina frets worriedly as we rapidly start to pick up our paces.

"I-I'm not sure actually, but you never know." Peter just responds.

It is then that I look ahead to suddenly spot another towering gate-fence within the distance. It's looming figure haunted my sights and I turn my head sharply to look away from it.

"Tris." Tobias notices my despair and his voice is soft and gentle towards me.

"...I don't want to do this." I state with anxiety and he just nods, his eyes gleaming with nothing but adoration and esteem for me. I loved him.

But nothing mattered though. I hated this new routine. It wasn't something that I was going to continue with. I didn't want Tobias and my friends getting hurt anymore. And not just physically, but emotionally hurt. I already knew Tobias was scarred from him witnessing Eric touching and harassing me.

And Christina with her foot? We had both been hanged already... Who knows what it will be like if we are hanged again?...

But the pills? I remind myself with flat hope.

The healing of the pills probably wouldn't even last. We'd just get hurt again.

This was a living nightmare, ruled by an inhuman monster who lusted for nothing but death.

This has to end.

Somehow.

And it will.

We will end this. We can work together.

Perhaps instead of knocking Eric unconscious, there can be a way of ending him.

There's always a way.

And we'll find it.

We will.

Because this needed to end.

We are approaching the looming gate and agony is already beginning to mix with hatred within me.

A new round was just starting. But we would find a way. With Tobias' strength and Peter's knowledge in this place, we could all work together and perhaps turn the tables on Eric.

We could.

And we will.
