Tobias' POV
Heated strokes of irritation were beginning to lick at me.
There was no way in the world that I would leave Tris' side again, especially after all that has already happened to her.
Christina though, did seem to have a valid point on our situation at hand however. We needed to do something with the time we had and not just continue sitting here like fools.
Tris now looks to me with a pleading expression on her face. I could tell she was beginning to get frustrated again over me but I did not care.
"Please." Suddenly Christina speaks again and when I look to her she is directing her words at me.
"Four, please. I can't power a generator alone. Tris will be fine." She begs now, her movement beginning to get impatient and her eyes going from me to Tris. I also notice how she has switched back to using my nickname as 'Four' again. I rather appreciated this act from her.
I only found it suitable for Tris to call me by my real name, Tobias. And so she does; and nobody else is allowed to.
"Come on Tobias." Tris now also sighs, and I look back at her and just study her state again. Her clothing had nothing but bloodstains on them and her face was beginning to look paler and paler by each moment. She wasn't doing too good and I needed to find her some help like a medkit.
I exhale now finally and at least decide on that.
"If I do this," I start at last which instantly gets both of the girls' attentions on me. "If I go out and help you Christina with a generator... Can we also search for another chest, in hopes of a medkit for Tris?" My offer is slowly introduced but all the while I couldn't help but want to yell something out of true frustration.
I was leaving my Tris again. After I had just vowed not to.
"Yes, that's fine. We can search for a chest all you want, now let's go." Christina agrees hurriedly before she then starts off in a randomly selected direction of the night, her footsteps already starting to fade.
I glance one last time down to my Tris. She looked frail and delicate like a flower would. But I knew within my mind that she was strong and capable of herself. I had helped her to get that way through Dauntless training and initiation.
Feels like so long ago...
I hurry to bend down next and I plant a kiss along my girl's moist lips before I then pull myself away by force and start off after Christina; in the direction that she had headed in.
Agony and anguish seized my heart at me having to leave Tris again but I knew that this was for the best and that I was helping her in doing so anyhow; or, so I told myself...
The brisk night air loomed around me and the eerie, foggy mist heavily shaded the world a deep silver of all kinds.
I no longer had my Dauntless jacket anymore against the cold, seeming, I had given it to Tris when I had seen her shudder a while back. That was before Christina had exploded the gen, and that was also before Tris had been taken by Eric to be hanged in the basement...
I never did find my jacket afterwards. I was just too content on rescuing Tris.
But the cold didn't really matter to me. None of this mattered actually, except for us escaping.
Ahead of me now, I begin to make out the lithe form of Christina just a few feet ahead. Her posture was cautious and slow, just like Tris' had been when she had led the way after Christina had recovered from her injuries of being on a hook as well.
