"It's all about
who you want
when you're drunk;
when your hands
won't stop shaking
and your mind has lost hold
of everything
but a name."Chloë Frayne
After Bea's birthday, they were sort of ignoring each other - no more messages in between working hours, no more chats in the pantry and in Bea's office, no more calls after a long day at work. Sometimes they would meet upon Jho's request which is still at Bea's place, but as soon as they finished, Jho leaves without a word - preventing another conversation and a possible argument with Bea.
It was extremely excruciating for Bea to adjust again. She must admit that even though they only knew each other for barely two months, Jho had made a huge impact in her life.
She ought to find another partner for the gala since she heard that Jho had agreed to go with someone else.
She would never choose me. Not in a million chances. She sadly thought.
She planned to take a leave after the gala to clear her mind because up until now, she hasn't made up her mind whether she would leave the corporation, but there's a big part of her that say she should, after all, her reason for staying is ignoring her.
She called Deanna over the telephone.
"Deans, book mo ako ng ticket to Davao at the end of the month then print the letter I sent you and hand it over to dad. I'm filing a leave."
"For how long po Miss Bea?"
"Three days would be enough. That would be all. Thank you."
Bea hung up and proceeded to message her friends.

Friends, do anyone of you know who I can take to our company's annual gala? Two weeks from now pa naman.
She immediately received a call from Kim.
"No question, Maddie na dude!"
She chuckled softly. "Can I get her number? Di ko nahingi nung nagkita kami sa gym before eh."
"Kahit di mo pa tanungin, yes na agad yun! Crush ka kaya nun."
Bea rolled her eyes. She knows Kim was playing the matchmaker for her again. Ever since they became best of friends, she was the persistent one among the group to find her the perfect match and surely she'll fail again. Not now, Kim.
"Kim alam ko yung mga balak mo ha. Wag ako."
Kim laughs. "Bea, magtry ka naman. You always shut people out basta commitment na pinag-uusapan. It's a process. You just have to trust it."
It caused her to ponder for a bit then she realized that Kim was right. Maybe this time or rather with Maddie, it will work. She just needs to put her mind into it.
"Alright, alright. Besides, nung nagkausap kami I enjoyed naman and she's not hard to like and magaan yung aura niya."
"Yun oh! For the first time! Ibabalita ko to sa barkada. Sige Bea, my work is done here. Ingat!"

Malapit na ako. I hope you're done prepping. 😊
After she sent the message, she shoved her phone back to her purse. She was wearing an exquisite black turtle neck dress personally crafted for the event, silver heels, a few jewelry, and light makeup. A minimalist type of fashion yet she looked galvanizing.
