Joe walked through the back door and into the kitchen with the two boys, Josh and Mason, after a great Muggle Quidditch training session in the backyard, chatting happily about Transformers because it was the three's favorite topic of all time. Mostly due to the fact it consisted a lot of robot aliens, which was also their favorite topic in the world.
"Boys! Shoes off! You're getting the floor all muddy and dirty," Denise sighed, grabbing some paper towels as the boys kicked off their football shoes out of the door.
"Mommy! Can we watch Transformers for movie night?" Josh asked.
Mason added, "Yeah! The second one!"
"Maybe," Denise replied, "If I can put your sister to bed early, we can watch it on Saturday night."
"Yeah!" the two boys gave each other a high five.
Joe walked up behind Denise and wrapped his arms around her waist, she chuckled and turned around to give him a quick kiss, "Baby, I need you to watch the kids tomorrow, just for an hour. I have a private class."
"All three of them at once?" he asked.
"You can manage an hour, I know you can," Denise encouraged him, "I'll even put one of the boys down for a nap before I go."
Joe smiled and tucked a stray strand of Denise's honey blonde hair behind her ear, admiring her beauty. After they got married and made the decision to start a family, Denise danced a lot less than she used to. She occasionally taught a class here and there, but it was mostly during the weekends when Joe could take over. He was still in awe of how she managed to give up dancing so easily for their family, and he loved her for that.
"Alright boys, run upstairs and take a bath," Denise looked at the two young boys, now trying to steal a couple chocolate chips from the countertop, hoping their mother pretended not to see them. They made a run upstairs, and she chuckled, "Well, I'll go upstairs and run a bath for them. Can you watch Karri for me please?"
"Sure babe," Joe quickly gave her a kiss as she followed the boys upstairs, and he went to the sitting area, which was now converted into a play area for the three month old, and picked his daughter up onto his lap, "Hi Karri! How are you?"
Karri just gurgled and smiled, staring at her father with her bright blue eyes, identical to her brothers', but it stood out in some ways to Joe. Karri definitely resembled her mother, all those small features she had were exactly like Denise's. Joe could see her growing up to be a dancer, slaying dance after dance, and possibly even an actor like the rest of her family, but at the end of the day, he just wanted her to be happy.
Joe cuddled up with Karri on the couch, marveling at every small movement of hers. As much as Joe and Denise loved their boys, and even though life with only two kids were hectic, both of them wanted a daughter, and they couldn't be happier that their third turned out to be a girl. Karri was definitely a Daddy's Girl, she was closer to her dad than her brothers were and often screamed the house down when she wanted Joe, but everyone still loved her.
Joe just enjoyed the little moment he had with his daughter, and thoughts started roaming his mind. What would happen when she started walking, school and high school? What would happen when she would eventually go to prom, graduate, and move out of the house to go to college? The scariest bit for him was letting her go out and explore the world, because even though she was only three months old, Joe couldn't believe how quickly those three months had gone by. He could still remember the day Karri was born like it was yesterday, she looked so frail and small in Denise's arms and the boys were really excited to meet their baby sister. Everyone was so tired that day, but they were also happy and relieved that Karri was safely delivered.
"Hey babe?" Denise came down into view right in front of Joe, "I have the boys all dressed and clean playing upstairs, so I'm just going to start on dinner. What do you wanna have tonight?"
"I don't mind, anything you want," he looked up at his wife, "What about I cook tonight?"
She shrugged, "Sure, I don't see why not."
"What do you want to eat?"
"Lasagna?" she asked hopefully.
"Your wish is my command," Joe smiled and looked down at Karri, "But I don't want to put her down."
Denise smiled, sat next to him on the couch and looked down at the baby, "You won't be saying that when you have to watch her 24/7, she can be a handful."
"I can't believe she's already three months old, remember when she was born?"
She recapped, "Of course I do, every moment of it."
"I can see her dancing with you someday, you could teach her how to dance right in this house, and we don't even have to drive to the studio," Joe joked, wrapping his free arm around Denise's shoulder.
"That's a privilege that we could definitely use," Denise chuckled, "So, are you gonna get started on dinner or what?"
Joe smiled, and passed Karri to Denise, "Then I guess I should get started now."
"Right you are Joseph," she said to him, and looked down at Karri, "Now I guess it's my time to cuddle with you."
