"Guys, I'm home!" Lauren yelled into the house, kicking off her shoes and dumping her bag on the couch, "Joey! Stop putting your smelly tees on the couch, for god's sake! The couch is going to smell like smelly tees!"

Just then, she noticed a glimmer of red behind the couch, taking a good look at it, she realized it was a rose petal, and about a few feet away, another rose petal. Lauren followed the trail of rose petals, which got closer together as she followed it more, into the backyard. She stood in the middle of the backyard, where the trail abruptly stopped, and an alert from her phone distracted her.

I have Hanna at Brian and Meredith's tonight, it's just us. <3 Joey.

Just as Lauren's mind was wandering off to thinking how sweet her husband was, she could feel something hard and cold hit her in the back. She gasped and turned around, only to see Joey standing there with a huge bucket of water balloons, and her four-year-old daughter in her little wooden cabin with a water gun attached to the window sill, pointing at her.

"Joey!" she squealed and starting chasing after Joey. He laughed as he quickly ran away to dodge her.

"Hanna, now!" he yelled.

Lauren could feel a small stream of ice cold water hitting her back, she whipped her head around and saw Johanna smiling sheepishly, giggling.

"I'm gonna get you!" the brunette ran towards the little fort, the small girl squealed as she ran away, giggling, "Daddy! Protect me!"

Lauren suddenly had her eyes landed on a conveniently abandoned water gun behind the fort, she picked it up mischievously, seeing as it was loaded, and started chasing after Joey and Johanna, mostly aiming the gun at Joey. As it was clearly his idea to drench Lauren in a water fight after a tiring day at work.

Joey stepped back and threw more water balloons at Lauren, which she skillfully dodged, but his throws were weak as Johanna constantly hid behind him. And Lauren was able to successfully get a few good shots at Joey, making him flinch.

"What about you get on my back and throw some water balloons at Mommy, princess?" Joey ganged up with Johanna, who agreed immediately and jumped on her father's back. He knew he didn't need to support Johanna so she didn't fall off, she had the strength to cling onto her father's back like a koala. So a system was worked out, Joey would hand Johanna the water balloons with one hand while throwing Lauren in another, and Johanna would use one arm to cling onto Joey while she attacks her mother with the other. It lasted with fits of giggles and occasional squeals before Lauren's water gun ran out of water and the father/daughter duo ran out of water balloons.

Johanna hopped off Joey's back and ran towards Lauren for a huge hug, "Mommy, did you like it?"

"It was certainly a surprise," she chuckled as Joey came over to give her a quick kiss, "I just have one question Joey, why?"

"Because I noticed you were getting stressed lately," he grinned, "I had to find a way to cheer you up."

Lauren, being the brilliant actress that she was, faked a smile, "Thank you, for this illuminating surprise."

Even though Joey could see right through Lauren whenever he wanted to, he was too happy and dumbstruck to guess what his wife was planning to get back at him...

"Girls? I'm home! And I brought cake!" Joey called through the apartment after his tiring day of work, shoving the cake into the fridge, "Guys?"

Suddenly, a text came from Lauren.

Meet me in the backyard, I have a surprise planned for you babe. -Lo xxx

Joey happily walked out into the backyard, completely oblivious that he was stepping into a trap as Lauren called from the treehouse he and the boys built for Johanna and the rest of the kids. As he was walking towards the rope ladder, a whole bunch of water balloons came crashing down on him, drenching him with ice cold water. He could hear laughter from his wife and daughter and Lauren looked out of the window where she dumped water balloons on him.

"That's called payback!"

Lauren helped Johanna down as both of them attacked Joey with hugs and kisses to sort of make up for what they did.

"Touché Lopez," he chuckled, taking his shirt off, "Not bad."

"I'm glad you liked my surprise," she said innocently, ushering Johanna inside as they stayed out in the backyard.

He put his hands on Lauren's waist as he kissed her gently, asking, "But does this surprise have a part two?"

Lauren smirked mischievously, reaching up to whisper in his ear, "You get the candles and I'll put Johanna to sleep, then you know the drill."
