"Joeyyyyy" I whined, "Where are we going?"
Joey blindfolded me as we drove to some special place on Christmas, I honestly hated surprises, but whatever Joey was planning, I had full confidence in him.
"You'll see. Just wait, we're almost there."
I felt the urge to yank the blindfold off my face, but I didn't want to disappoint Joey, so I kept it on. He kept driving and driving until we stopped. I can tell we weren't going to some random shop on the sidewalk because he didn't parallel park. Then he carried me into wherever we are because I am dead clumsy and if I had to walk blindfolded, my face would have met the hard ground ten seconds ago.
I recognized the stench of our apartment once we entered the door, I was somewhat disappointed that he drove all the way back to our own apartment. But when he set me on the floor, I could hear the faintest bark from far away. A while later, he asked me to take off my blindfold, and when I did, he was holding three precious chihuahuas in his arms.
I covered my mouth in surprise and tears were threatening to pour out from my eyes.
"Merry Christmas," he smiled goofily as he set the chihuahuas on the floor.
I engulfed him into a big hug, already shedding tears of joy. We just got married three months ago, and I'd never thought he would agree to get me three chihuahuas without me even asking.
"So what would you like to name them?" Joey asked, looking into my eyes.
I shrugged, "I just got them! I need time to evaluate their personalities and play with them for a bit until I can decide a name."
With that, I kneeled down to pick up one of the chihuahuas and cradled it into my arms, like a precious baby.
"Hey there buddy," I talked in a baby voice, "How're you?"
Joey chuckled and my reaction, "How did you like your Christmas present?"
"A lot! Thank you!" I jumped up to hug him again, "I love you so much."
"I love you too."
We played with the puppies for a reasonable amount of time, if you mean reasonable as in half an hour, you would think we were crazy. We spent the entire morning just playing with them, we even put our Weasley sweaters on. Just before we had to head out to Darren's place, I decided to give Joey's Christmas present right now, wanting to celebrate right now, rather to keep the present from him for the entire evening.
"Joey?" I screamed from my room. A regular sized envelope was on the makeup table, and that was his Christmas present.
Joey rushed into our room, "What?"
I handed him the envelope, "Merry Christmas."
I smiled in anticipation as he opened the envelope, and when he did, his eyes lit up and he looked at me happily.
My Christmas present to him was a photograph, black and white. It was a blur, but it was enough for him to figure out what it was.
Joey ran up to me and gave me a giant bear hug, "I can't believe it."
"Me neither," I chuckled, "This kid is so fucked."
"Guess it's just eggnog for you tonight then," he smiled, looking at me.
I shrugged, "Guess it is."
This was the Christmas we both had been waiting for. He got what he wanted, and I did too. The life cooking up inside of me was a sign that things were finally settling down for the both of us. It still seemed so surreal how we were having a kid, but I know I would love it with all my heart, and my three chihuahuas as well.
